As I promised here are some news about the dialing "*#31# fix:

As I already wrote, this fixed my problem BUT... I discovered that the fix was working when I was at home. Today, when I am at my office, the problem reapeared and dialing *#31# is not fixing it. The only way to make calls is to switch from 3G to EDGE. Otherwise the phone is hanging on outgoin calls and you can hang up only by restarting it.

When I dial "*#31# the message on my screen is: "Setting Interrogation Succeeded. Calling Line ID Restriction Disabled"

So my guess is that the problem is a conflict between iOS7 and the provider towers/cells software which is restricting outgoin calls from my ID/Phone. The big question is why and how can this be fixed permanently without having to wait for iOS update.

I just had a chat session with Apple support on the issue.

Since I have restored my iPhone as new from iTunes, they said that it is not a software issue. Then they send me to go and see my provider for a new SIM or to replace my phone.

I still think it is a software issue, because my phone was working great before the update.

And I still think Apple will fix it with a firmware update.

The question is WHEN?

Today I tried something new. I can not say it has cured my outgoing calls problem forever but I think it works for now.

Please be advised: If you decide to do any of the below described do it at your own risk. If you do not feel confortable and you are not confident experimenting DO NOT DO IT!

So, following the idea that my "outgoing calls hanging" problem could be a conflict between iOS 7 and my provider towers software I find something interesting while I was searching for some service codes (similar to *#31#) which could somehow "update" the "relations" between the two.

I dialed *228

This is what it does according to information in several tech forums:

Quote:

*228 does 3 things... if you choose #1, it programs your phone # info to the device and updates the PRL. If you're switching to a different phone, you can also choose #1 to do an over the air change and subsequent programming. if you choose #2, it only updates the PRL.

some people will tell you to dial *22899, but that is really only designed for data-only devices such as modems. While I'm sure you'll hear a bunch of people say they've never had a problem, my understanding is that it has the potential to cause issues when done on a phone.

End Quote:

According to the info I found PRL means, the Preferred Roaming List which is what controls how and when your phone roams. Towers change hands, towers turned off, or get built, so the list would always be changing. So i guess we have an updated list.

After I dialed *228 my 3G connection whent stronger form 3 to 4 bars or to full. My provider do not give me options 1 or 2. The only thing the phone did is to shortly loose coverage.

For the time being I do no more experience the "can't make calls" problem.

I'll keep you posted

Cheers

I just got replacement of my phone for the same issue which all of you are facing & got iOS6 in that.

BUT

after setting up my iphone with y AppleID, it started downloading iOS7 automatically. As a wworkaround, I turned OFF Wi-Fi & called Apple Support & they told that there is no way we can stop iOS7.

I am afraid that I will face same situation after ioS7 is updated.(Not able to make outgoing calls).

====================================

All us guys who are facing this, are we all gonna sit & posts like this untill when ?

we guys are devoid of basic phone functionality(making calls) & Apple is not taking care of this.

Spending so much money for purchasing Iphone(in india) & getting such issues is annoying me.

========================================

Is someone from US or Canada here ??

Judiciary is not strong & good in india , Can someone in US take care of this & SUE Apple for devoing customers of any control on their own device.

Latest update:

After dialing *#31# - problem persists. No mather woh many times I reboot and restore as new (incl. in DFU mode)

After dialing *228 - problem shows rarely, once in two-tree days and disapears after I redail *228 or reboot (not switch off). I do not reset network settings because it has proven not to work for this problem.

New problem - proximity sensor is not working. When I rase my phone near my face the screen is still acitve and it puts all my calls on Hold or in Face Time.

Conclusion: Apple has released an unfinished Beta of its iOS - shame!!!

Having same issue on vodafone India network. Upgraded to ios 7 last night and now cant make or receive calls at all. *#30# and *#31# fix the problem temporarily but same issue appears when I move from one place to another or restart the phone.

Network auto-manual toggling also not helping.

Apple also blocked the downgrading option, which is making our phones a brick now.

Please Help APPLE!!!

Same problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I have tried everything including resetting the network settings, resetting and setting as a new iphone. The carrier is BH Mobile but as far as I see it has nothing to do with the carrier since it used to work before the update. An immediate intervention of Apple is required. This must be fixed, having -so called!- the best smartphone on the market should make a difference, not a torture such as not being able to call, or watching your phone hanging up by itself while the 3g is on.
