Any way to turn off iOS 7 navigation animations?

The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache. It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.

How do I turn them off? Do I have to revert to 6?

Greetings;

I have had my iPhone 4 for a long time and have found it better than other smartphones despite its significant limitations. Since you introduced the ''downgrade'' (iOS7) with zooming in and out, fade in/out without giving me an option to switch these settings off is not what have been expected from a reputable company like Apple.

Since Jobs had passed away, your design decisions are questionable. Get it together folks. I wonder why would some people say "The most advanced OS ever", I would say that iOS 4.2.1 is 100000000 times more advanced and highly aesthetic and pleasing than iOS7. Every new version of the iOS is worse than its successor. Starting with removing the Google Maps and Youtube and with the annoying notifications, the white keypad for making a phone call which used to be black and there is not an option for someone to toggle it. The list of bad design decisions can go forever.

I can not go back to iOS6, neither can I disable all these slow motion features in the new iOS7. So, what can I do?

At least, for iPhone 4 users, either allow them to peacefully go back to iOS6, or consider that not everyone is a fan of too much graphics animations. Pressing on the home button requires me to wait for seconds to get an effect to show up. It would be good for people with slow perception or elderly users. However, for people like myself an immediate action is expected after pressing a button.

By the way, TOO MUCH OF THE GOOD THINGS MAKES IT BAD

I experienced extreme nausea, headache and vertigo after upgrading to iOS 7 on my iPad also, rendering it useless to me. If this problem is not addressed by Apple, they will obviously lose customers for the sake of making everyone need to adapt to this "next best thing". I want the CLASSIC screen and icons back! The text is still TOO WISPY and small, too much white space. Even with the adjustments suggested by Apple Support, it did not help. I want to be able to read my calendar icon when I look at the screen! Now there is NO CONTRAST or shadowing.

My vision problems and vertigo were of serious concern to me as I drive long distances to work on a dangerous, congested interstate. Feeling like I am about to vomit and having to drive with a severe headache is not the best state to be in to function effectively in heavy traffic!

I read somewhere about this new version of OS having eliminating the textured backgrounds, realistic notepad, etc. But WHY? This is what I liked about iOS 6.

The pencil has been around for a LONG time with no changes. Don't mess with a good thing, Apple. Or give us a choice between the classic "old" version of icons/screen/motion and the new one.

Your older audience FELL IN LOVE with your product. Don't force us to end the relationship. Now your product looks like a cartoon. Maybe the younger generation is ok with this, but we're not. The older generation still PURCHASES many of these products for our kids, and at this stage, this user is NOT in love with your new OS.

The problems everyone has mentioned seem understated, I upgraded my ipad to iOS 7 a couple of hours ago and it has already given me a migraine. I was going to go and buy an iPhone 5 tomorrow but I'm going to have to hold off and if they don't change things samsung are going to get my business, after 13 years of being loyal to apple and their brilliant user friendly design that has always been their trademark it's going to surprise a lot of people who know me!. The problem is bad enough that I may have to consider getting rid of the ipad as well as it is unusable in its current state.

Yeah, my friends and family are shocked that I'm actually considering a Samsung. The upside is that for years I've been saying "I buy apple because they make the best products" and people are actually believing me now :-P

And if the loyal fanbase leaves, and we articulate our reasons why, do you think that Apple will be able to attract new customers? Absolutely not.

Being a "trusted" brand is the #1 reason why a brand becomes successful. Now I don't know what to expect from Apple. Not only did they not realize the problems with this design early on, but they also didn't learn the lesson of Coca-Cola when they took the "classic" version off the market. This doesn't give me any confidence in the future direction of the company, and definitely diminishes my trust in the brand.

I'm having trust issues now, too. I only switched to the iPhone about three years ago, because the hardware was so beautiful and the software was clearly designed for usability, in addition to being nice to look at. I still think the physical iPhone is prettier than the Galaxy, but not only am I disappointed in this new direction for the iOS, I'm starting to worry that they're going to go the same way with the OSs for the laptops, too.

Saturday was the day to renew my contract. I got the Galaxy S4 with a Spigen Neo Hybrid case (also available for the iPhone). Feels like an iPhone, but much lighter. I still miss the eyelet for a lanyard, but that is part of marketing .... let the phone fall out of the shirt's pocket into the toilet or the concrete! Now, this is on topic, because the Galaxy defaults to the same flash, whizz of the iPhone, BUT, there is availability to turn off 3 different aspect of motion and zoom.

Now I have a lighter, bigger screen unit, interchangeable batteries, a microSD card, and user friendly READABLE inteface that is very customizable (good fonts and good wallpaper/background). APPLE forum monitors, do pass this on to your marketing.

Maybe the neophypte, leisure user may like this whizz, and show off to your friend 'interface', but for the productive user, the Galaxy has all the GUI tools to adjust to your liking and operating mode, including a 'Developer Option', for customization. Albeit, this goes against the original Apple objective of delivering a finished product, with no under the skin user modifications possible.

So, in conclusion, I'll repeat to APPLE, that they should implement a sub GUI "Call it Genious Mode" or "Geek Mode" for customization, and even let 3rd party create skins to suit user personalities... this will allow users to place their personal imprint on the phone, else Samsung will walk away for the next two years (lenght of phone contract), with new customers, that may never go back. Time will tell..... I'm going short with options, we'll see <g>.

The media certainly covered the vertigo/nausea reactions but some articles have hinted that we are "overreacting".

I don't see it as OVERREACTING to discover that the beautiful device that had been helping you to be extremely productive in your work and rewarding to spend your leisure time with in the BLINK of an eye becomes USELESS.

I'd like to hope for the best, and believe that the company that gained my faith will keep it by fixing this issue. If not, other companies are certainly going to notice, and would be smart to tweak their products to include the user-friendly features that may be no longer available from Apple.

The comments in this forum are providing important feedback. For the product designers to ignore our comments, which are reflecting obvious health impacts, would not be a wise move if any litigation comes about claiming that an accident had been caused as a result of being impaired by the new OS.

I have never been diagnosed with vestibular issues but know I've never been able to handle an IMAX theater or do carnival rides. And I am in the percentage of the population that these changes have affected.

Please, Apple, give us a choice to go back to the classic version! Give us back our pencil!

Let me repeat once more that all existing evidence suggests that motion sickness can occur without any (clinically detectable) vestibular issue whatsoever. On the contrary, people with a complete loss of vestibular function rarely if ever get classical motion sickness (like on boats etc), but they appear to be just as likely to get visually induced motion sickness as other people.
