This worked for me...
Make sure you really want to delete all the music because they can’t be restored afterwards.
Open General » Usage in Settings.
Wait for iOS to load all the apps that take up the storage of your iPhone/iPad.
Find and select Music from the list.
You’ll see All Music in the list. Tap the Edit button on the top right, and choose to delete All Music.
As for me, I am always using the iPhone file manager to manage the songs, playlists and other files on my iPhone.
This fixed it. It must have been partially downloaded! Thanks!!!🙂
You beautiful people! You have made my life so much better! lol To the guy who said he never wants to hear Clapton this year, do not get me wrong, I LOVE Paul McCartney. BUT when he went in that big band type music that epically failed, Starbucks had one as a free song. If I never hear him sing "Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive" again, I may need to be committed to a psych facility. That is always the first song that comes on in car before I can hit shuffe through my Toyota Entune. Thank you all you beautiful people who helped us solved this!!

Store songs on a different computer for listening, and delete them from the computer the phone is tied to.
None of the suggestions worked for me. I am about to go crazy. My problem is not eric clapton or paul mccartney or U2. It is worse. I deleted the song from my library, it is not even in my recycle box . It is such an embarassing song - I cannot even say its name and it is on my list - whatever I do it is there - it is not deleting. itunes is not updating my iphone with the songs I have selected. it is just adding songs but not removing. and that swipe thing is not working on ANY of the songs. whether or not show all songs is selected. I am just about to dump iphone and apple altogether
excellent this worked for me. thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First Have Show music off then look through music and take note of songs you don't want on there that keep showing up then go in and turn show all music then look for the songs in question if they have a cloud next to them you have to tap cloud to download and when completed delete it then when you go back and turn off show music the song will be gone.
This worked!!! Thanks
It's hard to believe that APPLE has not done a better job with file management! It's a consistent frustration when using it's devices. There should be many ways to manage files. Instead, everything has to be done a very particular way, that changes between its interfaces.. it's not as modern or as streamlined as they portray it to be! "iTunes" is NOT a great system to manage devices, and it's not as intuitive (or feature rich) as it should be.

YOU ARE THE BEST. That was it. I want to give you a million points, I don't have to listen to the same freaking song every time the car turns on.
