Heelsmj, You are only half right.
The text messages do go away if you delete them. Yes you free up some space. What we're TRYING to tell you is there are HIDDEN items in the CACHE that do not delete. PHOTOS sent via text message being the main culprit.
I know this is a FACT because I do NOT save my text messages for any length of time. I have a conversation with someone and at the end of the day, any and all text messages are deleted. When I used Moe's iBackupBot it found HUNDREDS of images stored in the CACHE that never went away. No texts, just the image attachments. Some as far back as 5 years.
Settle down and accept that you might be mistaken.
Go take the free trial version of the app and give it a try for yourself. You might be surprised unless you never, ever sent a photo via text.
You go into the Messages app and delete there. From the list of conversations tap Edit, then delete the threads you don't want.
dude im talking about all the convos that i had in the last two yrs.... you know that IOS saves it on your device !!!!! like every single msg u had sent and recieved . so im asking about that
Moe, try Phone Clean app for this issue. I freed up a mess of space with it.
OH MOE! Thank you.
This is one app well worth paying for!
Karol,
You are welcome, and thank you . 😎
Do you think we would have tried that? What are you even replying to this for? You are 100% wrong.
@heelsmj - you're wrong. Photos that were sent via text remain in your phone. I had hundreds of them stashed in there until I removed them with that iBackupBot thing.
Hi Moe
I wanted to know if this deletes the hidden caches of images only or will it remove caches from deleted imessages as well?
@anjalim this will help u to delete iMessage hidden cache. i.e. MMS you have sent/received that has been stuck on your memory even after deleting all the msgs in the inbox .
@heelsmj I guess you haven't used iOS 6 or earlier versions. iOS 7 seems to overcome this issue.
I had this problem once. i had to delete my iphone itunes backup and make a new backup. so give it a try.
itunes options/preferences ( windows/mac) > devices > devices backup.
you are a genius!! i have managed to have 4 gb sapce free on my phone now! thanks dude! i still have 1.2 gb of message data left! now i am going to try clean the phone and see if it works!
Dude have you made more than one back up? When you go into Ibot do you have different back ups to choose from if so you might be able to save them.
Cheers Kurt
