As long as no one violates the Terms of Use, everyone is free to post here, even if their opinions are different from yours.
After this discussion I found out, there is a lot of people going thru the same problems and that was good for me. Now I can say for sure that there is something wrong. So I'll complaint more. Thanks you for reading and for your input.
Thanks, Meg
That was helpful, thanks. Any chance of changing the background balloon color from the green it is now when texting? The white letters on the green background are hard to read.
Hi th86,
I don't know of any way to change the colour of the background balloon when texting in the Messages app. Might be a way but I haven't seen it. However the good news is that text in the Messages app can be made bold using the settings I described earlier. That has a huge influence in legibility. Plus, on my iPad I noticed that the text in messaging responds to the dynamic type sizing. Make it bold and make it big and legibility should no longer be a problem! (For me, I was happy to just make it bold but you can choose what you think looks and works best for you.)
You probably already know how to increase the size of type (in apps like Messages, which are written to take advantage of the feature) but I'll run through it anyway. Go to Settings / General / Text Size and then drag the slider to the right.
Of course I'm describing how this all works on an iPad, this being the iPad forum. So if you were wondering about how it works on an iPhone then I'll guess you'll have to experiment for yourself! Cheers.

No.
Add me to the long line of folks having trouble with my eyes. I've never had anything like this happen before.
on the iPad Mini it is just terrible. on the iPad retina, its a bit better.
I am shocked how bad this is. I've made all the adjustments mentioned in this thread.
I'll throw my hat into the ring. My Girlfriend updated first and after struggling to use her iPad I'm sticking to iOS6. It seems like a very strange move. I'm all for change but iOS7 is awful to my eyes. I don't think Steve would be happy.
This wouldn't have gotten past Steve... because it's good I'll give it that, but it's not unbelieveably good, and worse than what iOS6.1.x is/was. Didn't Steve say something about that.... users, choices and sending things back to be re-worked until they were unbelieveably good? Isn't that why we LOVE our Apple products and spend our hard earned money on them in the first place?
It's not about forcing people into technology, but leading them to something greater than what they ever imagined... those are in fact, Steve's words... and Apple history.
Here's hoping that someone reading or managing this at Apple (ok, maybe nobody), remember's Steve... and perhaps can relay to the right people to have a heart and at least unlock iOS6.1.3 for awhile so those of us who really REALLY don't like iOS7 and want to go back a step, back?
Or, give us two versions in iOS7.1... the classic sophisticated interface, and the 'other' kiddie-interface?
I am also having a serious problem reading the new OS. It's not a matter of "liking" the new OS, I have a cornea disease and can barely see the text in that skinny font on that white background. I've made it bold and changed the contrast but that only helps a little and, in some cases, not at all.
I don't think it whining or complaining bringing up a serious issue. I've read about people having this same problem all over the Internet. I'm very hopeful Apple will do something to help us. An option to change fonts and colors would make all the difference in the world. I would settle for an option to go back to the old OS.
Buying the iPad was very expensive. I don't have the budget to buy another tablet. The big decision maker in my mind when researching tablets was the beautiful, easy to read screen on the iPad. I miss it.
Leave apple feedback
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
You are far from the first person with visual issues to have problems with the new style. Apple doesn't read or monitor these forums (beyond enforcing the basic rules) so your issue will just fall on deaf ears here. But feedback is logged.
I sent in my feedback yesterday. I hope others will also take the time to give Apple their feedback. Who knows, maybe it will do some good.
After going to the website, where do you go to submit feedback for the iOS 7?
Use the link for the iPhone.
Thanks, I did but did't see the option for iOS 7 version
