Bug in newsstand in ios7: unable to pinch to close?

If I'm in Newstand, there's no way for me to exit out of the screen where I select from a magazine or newspaper. Because the newsstand takes up the entire screen, there's nowhere for me to press to minimize out of newsstand. Also, the pinch gesture does not work in this screen. If I then click on an app, I can use the pinch gesture to exit out of the app and get back to the newsstand interface. I would like to enable the pinch gesture at the newsstand screen too.

That's odd- folders do show up in the app switcher on my iPad mini. They look different from Newsstand, but they're there. If I am in the folder and (four finger) swipe up, then I can see the folder and not the home screen in the app switcher. If the only change were to make Newsstand smaller so the home screen could be selected behind it, that would be enough for me- the sooner, the better.

I am having the same problem. I opened newstand, pressed the store button, pressed a magazine, Maxim fyi, and the magazine/app info-install smaller window opened up on top of the store window. I installed the magazine/app just fine but now the magazine/app window stayed on top of the store window. I could not find ANY WAY to get the magazone/app window to close (tried finger drags, multifinger swipes, taps, pressing the home button then going back to the newstand store, pressing the grayed out magazine store window area that is outside and behind the magazine/app window). Absolutely nothing I did would close the magazine/app window and let me back into the magazine store to browse.

Here is how I worked around it. At the magazine/app window (or anywahere really), do the multifinger drag downward to get the open app list to come up ('open app list' is that horizontal row of smaller windows with each window representing one of the open apps). Now put one finger on the magazine store window and drag/flick upward. Now touch the newstand window so it becaomes full screen and press the store button. Voile! The magazine/app window is gone and you are back to browsing.

Fyi, (and I am sure many know this already) this one finger drag/flick upward of the small open app windows in is a great way to close some of the many open apps (not that closing open apps is needed, but I prefer to keep the amount of open apps limited).

I hope that helps.

((suggestion to Apple, put a 'back' soft button on the page, or activating back by tapping twice on the screen, or something like that))

Just loaded the newest IOS7 update, now not only does Newstand lock up (I could do without this sily program) but the open magazine also locks up the app store program. So now I cannot go to the app store. I suspect now that this is affecting their revenue by limiting customers from spending money on new apps... it may actually get fixed... but I am not holding my breath.BTW, none of the above workarounds work on my IPAD with the new IOS7 load so beware.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to close Newsstand in IOS 7.0.4 without switching off iPad and turning it back on again. I haven't tried it on iPhone.

Double clicking the Home button brings up all the open apps (the pinch gesture for this does not work when Newsstand is open) but

a) the Home screen is missing

b) unusually Newsstand does not have a mini icon under the open app

c) swipping up to close Newsstand does not work, it just bounces back down again.

This has nothing to do with Newsstand behaving like a folder, or Apple trying to increase revenue through magazine sales. It's a plain simple BUG. I have reported it but since this issue has been open now for THREE months I don't have high hopes for a solution any time soon. In the mean time, I'm avoiding Newsstand like the plague!
