Can't watch video playlist in landscape/fullscreen mode

After updating my iPhone to iOS 7 I can no longer watch my music video playlists in landscape mode.

I used to be able to watch my video playlists in full screen mode by just putting the phone in landscape mode, but now it just shows a useless cover flow screen that has no relation to what's playing.

I realize I can watch music videos in the videos app, but music videos don't make much sense unless you can listen to them in a playlist. This is the worst update to the iPhone music app since I purchased my iPhone 3GS (Now I'm using a iPhone 5). Very disappointing.

Is there a work around? How can I go back to iOS 6? iOS 7 provides too little feature enhacements to take away such a big feature.

i just got off the phone with Apple support, they have confirmed that the function, to view videos in full screen in playlists, has been removed. so, they have advised me to put in feedback to Apple, and suggest people having the same issue/problems to feedback too, so the more people who feedback, the more likely Apple will look into it and add that function back. (right.)

so people, please feedback to Apple!

I just posted this to Apple's feedback page at apple.com/feedback/iphone.html:

iOS7 video playlist playback in landscape mode with Music app

Apple,

Please restore the ability to play video playlists in the Music app when the iPhone is in landscape mode. Based on postings in discussions.apple.com, it appears that, in iOS7, you've intentionally deleted this previously-available function. That was a mistake; please restore it.

This is not a matter of getting used to a new way, it is a matter of not being able to do what was there before. Overall, the above and other changes to the Music app simply suck. I would downgrade to iOS6 if I could. Moreover, although I've been a first-day adopter of new iOS and OS X operating systems for the last several iterations, I'm now over that. If Apple is doing in Mavericks what you've done in iOS7, I have no interest in leaving Mountain Lion. Shoddy work - it pains me to say it.

Jay,

I share your pain. I was fortunate not to upgrade my iPhone 5 with IOS6. Instead, I purchased a new iPhone 5s with IOS 7 and just returned it back to the store last evening. I will go back and repurchase the iPhone 5s when apple restores the video playback feature in the music app or allows the video app to utilize playlist and shuffle feature.

I asked for further details from Apple. In my technical record submission from Apple, I received the message that the removal of landscape or full screen playback in Music App is an intentional change in IOS7. I replied and asked what was the thought behind the change since i just dont want an answer that its intentional. I also want to know if they will change it back.

Once this issue is resolved, I will repurchase an iPhone 5s with IOS7, until then its just not worth the extra money.

Best of Luck!

I've been reaching out to everyone i can that wants the same functionality to ask the same. I even reached out to Cnets's Apply Byte to ask that they prepare a video request to restore the function to the Music App or make changes to the video app to allow playlist playback in landscape or full screen mode and add the shuffle feature. I personally thing they shouldve left it in the music app since these are music videos.

I agree with the MVP Player review, but there are some compatability issues with certain automobile manufacture interfaces like BMW and other IOS Apps. I'm still upset that Apple would remove the function without consulting loyal customers that have purchased large iTunes Muisc Videos.

I may still request a full refund for the Music Video purchases and go to another service like Google Play. It was an unnecessary and arrogent decision on the part of Apple. I would have a completely different opinion if Apple said this was not an intended change and we are working to fix the issue. Insead you receive an arrogent remark that the music player removal of landscape playback was an intended change. The removal of Landscape/Full Screen "playlist playback" in any Apple IOS app was an intended change.

This issue is like buying a vehicle with built in Navigation and the manufacture of the vehicle issuing a software update that removes the function. You bought the function when you decided to purchase the vehicle and removing something that you purchased is deminishing its value.

Sorry Apple, I really like you guys, but I feel this time you took something away you should've left alone! At least I'm keeping my comments within the Apple family and not reaching out to CNN or other media to share all the issues with IOS 7.

Just got off the phone with Apple support, surprised to hear they weren't aware of this issue, how he was very helpful in showing me how to watch videos in portrait again. Go to your home screen, select videos, and they are all there, still doesn't address the other issue but, now I can watch videos again in full portrait.

Sure. The video app plays one at a time when you select the video. How about setting up a playlist and letting it run? No go. This is making me try out other phones and tablets to try to regain the functionality.

MVP is horrible for me as it won't play my iTunes purchases - either they're drm protected or the program crashes. A waste of cash completely. Just like any iOS 7 product right now.

And again, I have to mention you can't run playlists in the video app. What's the ****** point of having to hunt for them one at a bloody time. Works ok for a movie or tv, not for music videos you'd like to just throw on random like the MUSIC it is. I know the god ****** video app will play one at a time. That's the point. Only one at a time and you have to hunt for it. I didn't buy an over $800 phone and nearly 1000 videos so they can screw around with functionality after the frigging fact.

Actually, there IS a FREE solution! Download the app, Video Playlist, which is free, from the App Store. Make sure all the videos you want in the playlist are categorized as music videos. Create a playlist in the app using the iOS chooser. At first, it may appear that you cannot make it full screen in landscape mode, but if you tap on the screen, in the bottom right corner you will find the arrows to expand it. Thank GOD!!
