After upgrading my 4s to iOS 7 I now get an invalid sim error, I tried reset all settings and data to start from scratch and now i get 'Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone'. I now cannot activate either from itunes or on the handset, any thoughts ?

I upgraded by wife's iPhone 4s to iso7, and now it continually states "No SIM", so unable to activate. Went to the apple store, told me "it is you phone, it must have developed a hardware failure during the upgrade" !! "Would you like to buy a replacement phone ?"

As a computer hardware and software engineer, I thought no this is wrong and told the "salesman" in the store that. Went home, spent an hour on the phone with a good support person from apple UK, and he talked me through downgrading the phone back to iso 6.13 using the debug mode. Phone still said "No SIM". So after several other checks, passed me onto their senior support, went through same checks again, to be told "No it must be a hardware failure" !

Was told this morning to go back to the retailer, and they have told me that it would cost me £147 to get the phone swapped out as it is not an inherent fault.

Just mailed back to their senior support person, asking what next. More to follow, I hope.

I'd really try to get a new SIM if at all possible. I had been ok for a while, then No SIM error came and I couldn't do anything. So far after replacing the SIM I haven't had a problem at all. I also have the 4s. From what my mobile provider said, it seems thrashing the SIM during an update does not happen often, but not unheard of, either.

Ouch, sorry to hear that then.

Still seems like Apple should acknowledge that the phone bricked as a result of the update. Maybe point the Apple service rep to the many threads here on the same subject, and also the recent bricking of Apple TVs (so bad they actually pulled the update) to drive the point home that there are some problems in Cupertino.

I had the identical problem. Since I have got a brandnew Iphone 5, I immediately got it upgraded to IOS 7. Unfortunately, it kept silent and only showed "searching" right on the carrier's position. I have tried to turn on and off for several times but it still stayed the same. I probably bring it to Apple store tmr.😠 Read more: http://www.yeutienganh123.com/

ME TWO THOUSAND.

Brand new iPhone 5. Installed iOS 7 and a little while later (after working properly for a bit)

"Invalid Sim" where signal level should be. I so miss Steve.

Maybe a jerk but he never would have let them put out a plastic phone

And an iOS that crashes hardware. Better be careful apple. Your headed

Down the road of Packard Bell!

I got that dude, after struggling with this issue. I was going to restore and it have worked fine. Note that when you restore, it will ask you either to start a new phone or to backup from icloud. You need to choose "start a new phone"; then after several steps setting up til finish, go to icloud n back it up. Read more: http://yeutienganh123.com/ Best luck!

iOS7 is FULL of Bugs - this is shameful that they can release such a version - they need to reimburse all those people that updated to the new release for the waste of time trying to fix and troubleshoot all these problems:

1. After updating the phone got locked

2. Using the Speach option froze the phone

3. All critical apps that I used daily have stopped working : TD Ameritrade , Bank of America, etc...

4. Icons suddenly go big and can't use the phone without turning it off

5. Keep getting NO SIM Card message and have to turn off phone!!!

Nervous other problems....

I'm going to have to move to Galaxy unless Apple does something quick ... Including reimbursement...
