i tried all of the suggestions above, in different orders, signing in and out from the app store, from the itunes store, from settings, hard rebooting at different points in the process, on and on for about an hour, then gave up (all i was trying to do was restore the kindle app that vanished with the ios 7 update). A couple hours after giving up, I saw another app I was interested in and just for fun tried to download it, and, voila, the app store/itunes store glitch is gone. I was even able to restore the Kindle app. Very frustrating.

I had the same problem and the solution that worked for me was to go to App Store on iPhone and sign in.

In App Store click the right hand top corner and it will show your wish list.

Remember click on App Store then click on top charts. Then on the right hand top corner u will see a sign(just under the battery icon) press it and it will take you to your wish list and if u r not logged in it will ask u to sigh in and just sign in and that's it.

To check it now just go to settings then click iTunes and AppStore and u will see the details. Thanks.

I tried many other things like hard reset and restore but only this one worked. Thanks again.

This solution worked for me with my other half's iPhone 4S (after trying a lot of the other suggestions!) so give it a try and good luck.

I switched the "Block cookies" setting in Safari from "Always" to "From third parties and advertisers" and then rebooted the phone by holding down the home and on/off buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appeared. Then I went into the store and bingo, I could access iTunes again.

To the person on this forum whose post I read, thank you for your suggestion as now there's a smile back on my hubby's face!

Annoyed that judging from the number of comments here Apple obviously know this is an issue yet when I contacted Apple support this answer wasn't offered. However if I cared to contact the Apple paid-for support team....

This is EXACTLY what I get. I have tried everything, from full restore to recovery mode, then ALL of the tricks combined here. my iPhone will not accept my username and password (just does nothing) when I try to sign in either in the preferences or the iTunes store. And I get nothing but this "Cannot Connect to App Store" screen no matter what I do.

I've had this bug since iOS 7 came out and Apple can't figure it out. I'm pretty unhappy right now.

None of these suggestions work. Apple needs to get on the ball and get this fixed. I tried to call Apple and they want to charge me $19 for the call. Seriously!!!!

There is absolutely no reason for this bug to be going on for so long. I have been a dedicated Apple user for years, but the fact that I cant get help for my issues has me rethinking my dedication. We are not talking days here!!!

ℹ Try this...

None of the tricks described here worked for me. Before trying a wipe/restore, I figured I'd try just connecting to my Mac and doing a sync in iTunes. That worked. Next time I used App Store on the iPhone, I was able to log in. Buuuut... signing back out of App Store caused the problem to come back. I think the key until they get this fixed is to not sign out of App Store once you're signed in.

Try doing a sync in iTunes first, and try never signing out of App Store.

So this is still an ongoing issue.....

iphone 5

Cannot sign into itune & app store through settings, you click sign in, it does nothing.

Can sign when purchasing an app through the itunes app itself, but doesn't matter, it tells me unable to purchase, please try again later. Doesn't matter if it's free or a paid app, same result.

So right now I have an iphone that you can't get apps on b/c something is broke.....

Oh, apple support fixed my issue and closed the case.....trying to get them to help is like trying to get an act of god right now.

THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM.

After over 2 months of frustration and trying all the "tricks" here on the message board, I, too, was contemplating going to the Apple store to get a replacement. But I figured, what the heck, let's try a few things. Finally, here's what worked for me:

WARNING: Be sure all of your valuable data, contacts, emails and photos are saved either to iCloud or on your computer (photos to iPhoto for the Mac, for instance). You will be wiping this phone repeated times. No data will be saved when you do this. So SAVE FIRST.

1) Connect the iPhone to the iTunes store and use the 'Restore' aspect to restore the phone to factory spec.

2) DO NOT reinstall your saved backup. You will indicate that this is a NEW PHONE.

3) When you iPhone is restored, start it, but DO NOT enter or sign in with your Apple or iCloud ID. Your phone will look like it's completely empty with none of your info and just the bare minimum Apple apps, but there is still data lurking in there. Nothing harmful, but something that's keeping it from operating completely properly.

4) Go to Settings> General> Reset and select "Reset All Settings." This will further scrub your iPhone of any data. I had to do this TWICE. You can, too, it won't hurt the phone.

5) Connect to your wifi then tap the iTunes and App store to see if they will come up properly. Try logging in and see if you can download a free app or one you have already purchased.

6) If it works (you can believe I was happy when mine did) sign in on your phone with your Apple/iCloud ID and get all your contacts and calendar info. I would suggest NOT trying to use a backup of the phone as you may reintroduce the problem. You will have to manually add all of your other email accounts and manually re-download all of your apps, kind of a pain, but I took it as a chance to reorganize my phone and do some "housecleaning."

If this doesn't work, you probably need a new phone.

Good luck!
