Apple is no longer allowing the downgrade back to iOS6. (saturday sept 21st) They're stopping the server to allow the downgrade when iTunes phones home, regardless of method. (just tried on my iPhone5 with it in "recovery mode") I spent every spare moment with iOS7 since it was released, and there is no way I can get accustomed to this. I haver to go back, or they can have my phone and I will go get something else. (going to the Apple store right after I finish this) They took many of the core Apps, that have been refined for more than 6 years & made them Less intuitive. Replacing symbols with words, razor thin fonts & symbols, extreme colors & shapes. They are garish at best, and all this animation. (I would probably love it if I were 16)... I could go on and on.... bottom line, if I just bought this thing, I would take it back. It's just terrible, and I don't want to re-learn how to use Apps that are not better, just different. They said getting new software is like getting a whole new phone... so, if that's true, how do I return this thing?

Only 10 years? Newbie 😁

Great response!!!!!

I for one DO like the new interface. It was time for a change.

The old interface was getting old and stale.

BTW, not some youngster, been using Apple products since

my 1 Meg RAM MacPlus and a plugin 20 Meg SCSI hard disk drive.

In defense of some posting here, Apple could have toned down the colors

some.

Sure they could have. But then, a different set of people would have complained about the colors being too pale, washed out and that the low contrast makes things hard to read. Apple is never going to be able to please everyone and they'd be fools to try. One of the the things I've always admired about Apple (and a very few other tech companies) is that they navigate based on a vision not on a focus group. I understand that not everyone likes this approach. That's why there's more than one company out there. Ain't capitalism grand? 🙂

Best of luck.

Stop it children. That was lame at best. Unless you are my age you are all newbies. I was learning computer sciences when universities didn't have departments for these studies yet. I was an adult when Apple entered the scene and I have never owned anything else. I have NEVER spent my money on any other computer product, but I am scrapping this crappy product and all my apps. That should tell apple something.

Ah yes, the lovely days of the old keypunching machines and

feeding boxes and boxes of cards into a card reader. Was lots

of fun when near the end of a semester when masters and doctorate

candidates came in with their hand truck stack of boxes of cards.

Back when a highend HP calculator actually could do a square root.

I'm glad I was able to downgrade yesterday or I would have been upgrading to a Samsung. Now before anyone gets nasty on here, the white letters in the green or blue bubble on a lt gry background is terrible. There are changes on the system that I would have learned to live with and probably would have liked over time. But the messaging colors is what did me in. The eye strain and headaches I had after texting for a bit were awful. If the letters themself were black it would be a lot better. The icins on the home screens now look cartoonish- not at all classic and streamlined like before. Maybe Apple wants to start to gear all its stuff towards the teenagers and 20 somethings? But this 40 something year old think it looks absolutley ridiculous and cheap. Again it was probably something I could have gotten used to. Now I know Apple trolls these forums because they did delete one of my posts and sent me an email. Hopefully they see all these complaints and either gives people the choice of certain things or does an over haul. This was a cheap looking upgrade which is actually a downgrade in my opinion.

Yes, it tells them you don't like it. Not everyone will.

But yes, you're correct experience with any computers is irrelevant. That was my point when I responded to the poster who seemed to think that 10 years of using Apple products gave them special insight into the mind of the dead Steve Jobs.

Best of luck.

Looks like the fog rolled in on the new ios7. My screen used to pop. Now it looks like there's a haze over the screen. It looks nothing like the screen shots on the apple site. It's even worse outside. Suppose apple wanted to enhance the images to get us to upgrade. Bait and switch anyone? Guess I'll have to use my iphone in the dark. As far as performance, it's definately slower. Takes longer for apps to load. Guess I'll have to get used to it since apple is taking backward steps. As for downgrading, I'm looking into it. 😟

First post on here so go easy with me.

I have just started 'moving' over to apple from android (phones and tablet) and was about to bin off my PC's for macs but I'm afraid this new iOS has me seriously reconsidering. It's like having my old android phone back, but worse. The whole reason I started the move to Apple was the (in my opinion) more stylish and easy on the eye graphics and the simpler and easier to use apps and systems. The new iOS is like a bad case of android déjà vu. If its the same on the mac I won't be spending any more cash with Apple and I'll be reverting to android phones and saving some cash there as well.

Sorry Apple - big fail from my perspective.

Something has gone amiss in your case. Even though icon

colors are brightish, they are still sharp and clear on my

4S.

You may want to try a reboot to see if it fixes it. Some setting

my have got corrupted during the install and a reboot may properly

restore it.

I was doing exactly the same thing. Just bought a used iPhone 5 a month ago and was giving it a shot. Was also looking at picking up a Mac Mini. I like iOS 6 but all of the other potential spending on Apple iOS is on hold, indefinitely. It figures, I wait forever to try an iPhone and Apple ruins it.

I have carried many Android and BlackBerry devices. Android is getting real close... lock screen notifications now available on the MOTO X, etc...

When did I say I was expressing a preference, Meg St. Clair? I have not said it. Scroll back a few before you speak for someone else (especially since YOU detest that). I cannot use the browser or e-mail. They are like looking directly into a flashlight. I can not work more than 2 hours without getting a raging headache. And don't recommend settings (scroll back and see that has been attempted). This interface is a non starter. I cannot do any of the browser intensive volunteer work that I want to do with iOS7. Not a preference -- it is a break in capability for me. I would not come here to voice a preference...what a waste of time. iT IS BROKEN. I need another interface I can use for more than 2 hours a day.
