Well, Meg St. Clair, when I see someone else in a different thread having the same issues, I figure I'll ask in THIS thread and see if anyone else knows anything. It never hurts to check OTHER opinions.

Wow, lucky you! It is eating up my battery -- and I see others have the same complaint -- and my son-in-law has the same problem and my son. So it's not just me.
Iso 7 is crap!!!!! What's the deal with the white font in the text message and it being so bright? Apple you better fix this fast or your losing my bussiness!
I don't think they are to worried with them selling over 9 million iPhone and the users of iOS exceeding those using iOS6 in three days. Their big concern now is restocking.

Download the IOS6 IPSW file and reinstall your iPhone by iTunes. Do you know how to do that?****
Tried to reply to your specific post, but it dropped mine way down to the bottom. So, I downloaded the i0S6 on to my computer, then I went to iTunes to restore my phone, but it wants to restore it with i0S7.
Maybe you could post here the procedure of actually putting I0S6 back on iphone 5?? Thank you.

iOS 7 does look different on the screenshots and videos Apple made, that’s why I immediately went back to iOS 6.1.4 when I experienced the 7 first hand on my iPhone 5, just in time.

Anti-Static, how'd you immediately go back to 6.1.4???
That's all I want to do -- reinstall my old OS and get rid of new 0S.
I have bad eyes and the screen is very bad with the white print.
Siri stopped working.
My battery is burning up my iphone and the cord!!
I have an iPhone 4 plugged in right next to my iPhone 5, and the 4 is nice and cool along with the plug; the 5 is VERY HOT and the plug is too hot to touch. Wasn't that way BEFORE I put OS7 on it.
It's great isn't it, Apple are quite happy for hundreds of people to get eye strain from the new 'upgrade' and don't seem concerned about the fast battery drain which is making the hardware unusable. Can I ask what is the use of having all the new features if you have to turn most of them off because you can't keep the battery charged up enough if you are out all day. What do you have to do, carry the charger around with you and hope there is somewhere to plug it in? Come on Apple, sort these problems out.
Wow, JetJay -- couldn't have said it better! Yup, eye strain big time (I already have bad eyes, and this is making it worse), and the battery burns up in 1/2 a day even with the phone not being used, and my Siri stopped working. The battery life ***** big time! It's horrible! I've NEVER seen any of my iphones, or any of my family's iphones so quickly run down the battery.
Where is a "feedback" section? Don't see any on this page.

It's here but don't expect a reply or even an acknowledgement:
All I can say is I hope Apple does something soon about the new 7 cuz the old 6 looked much better and works better !!! I have a a 4s and since the update (7) my internet is slower and I have keyboard lag bad now.The plain boring gray/white screen kills my eyes after short time of being on phone.
Uhmm ... How do you close apps in this version. I get some weird pan out thing when i try to do it the old way
Just swipe up on the screen shot of the app you want to close
Meg fully understand where your coming from and yes it is Apple's forum which is why I was surprised to see the entire forum article disappear not my post.
Anyway looks like there are some reasonable requests from users here to see if Apple can offer something to give users perhaps a Classic theme option for the iOS7 UI. So perhaps a Setting menu to toggle the new versus traditional Icon. Granted there are some new icons but in all this might be a way to help smooth the transition. Thinking back in the past we have seen similar concepts when an OS and desktop changed radically.
To those complaining about poor battery life and general lag, I recommend doing a complete restore. A lot of these responses remind me of upgrading my iPhone 3G from ios 3 to ios 4. That was not a fun experience.
Altho not exactly the result you are after, should make your experience better with the OS 🙂
Slightly off topic:
If you buy one of them apple mini desctop computers is it possible to install windows or linux on it?
