Obviously someone is watching this thread as info showing how to downgrade was deleted. The good news for Apple is that people actually want to like iOS 7, like Apple products, and are venting their frustration with it. Apple would be very wise to seriously consider feedback from their customers.

One possible solution is just allowing for a darker themed setup, not just the "Inverse Colors" option that screws with pictures. A true darker themed option will resolve 90% of any gripes with iOS 7.

So true. I don't want two devices. One to read books, email, and surf the web and another to run iTunes apps. The thing is they HAD my money. I agree with previous poster in that those of us over 50 yrs old have tons of disposable income to make our lives fun and to gift to our kids, grad kids, etc. I will not use this glaring white interface. I have never bought a Windows PC for myself and have been an Apple supporter since the beginning--yep I am the VT100 era--but i am not opposed to it. To those who think the tide is not turning you have your head in the sand. I always buy something for a yearly nonprofit raffle. I offered to buy an iPad this year and was asked to buy the new windows tablet instead. Thank God I did not update my phone. A dead (to me) iPad is enough. Announce a fix soon because I am already shopping the other guys' tablet products.

This is a very polarizing issue for Apple. They would be wise to continue signing iOS 6.1.4; or, they can deal with disgruntled customers in Apple stores demanding to downgrade to iOS 6.

"You're wrong, we're right, screw you" is not a good business strategy. Ask RIMM.

It has worked for over thirty-five years. Where have you been?

...and Apple has 8% market share to show for it.

One of the things about Apple iOS is the lock screen notifications. I've use many BlackBerry devices and many Android devices. I really like the lock screen notification on iPhone. Well, the MOTO X now has that and it will become a feature of Android. Slowly but surely the key differentiators that iOS users really value are being rendered moot; meanwhile Apple is betting on a design that has serious fundamental flaws. There will always be some to hang on, but I doubt it will grow the base, and the current base generally has enough FU money at their disposal to respond in kind.

The bottom line here is this: previous iOS versions have been usable although not always appreciated for their interface. But the difference now is that many users are finding iOS7 unuseable because of its constant stark white screens, thin text, and bland, unattractive interface. In fact, I haven't met anyone in my circle yet who likes it, and most are actually astonished at how awful it looks. What I find interesting is that these responses range from young teenagers to the middle aged.

Apple missed the boat on this one. Simple as that. I have decided not to buy the 5s as a result. Since we use these tools everyday, the experience of the them (interface) is as important as what's under the hood.

I do not see why you needed to get personal in your reply and become offensive. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, you and I alike. For the record, I was not seeking your input on what I do.

I am sorely disappointed with iOS 7. That is a fact. Even typing this up is so much slower than on iOS 6 so I've learned another thing I am unhappy about. Seems I have you to thank for that.

Yep. One of the things iPhone had going for it was that it was easy to like in terms of the interface. Whatever with the lack of tweaking available - it was pleasing to the eye, refined, seamless - and that delivered a great prodcut.

With iOS 7, from the moment the intial setup screen appeared, it was instantly unpleasing to the eye. The main thing people liked about iOS was gone. The OS actually felt stressful to look at because it is so cold and stark.

Something is just not right and saying so won't make fundamental flaws any better. There is massive Group Think going on with the development. I am baffled by those who think this is an improvement, but to each their own money...

Before there wasn't as much choice and Apple probably were the market leader in this. Maybe still are.

The opportunity to create something outstanding is always within their reach. They seemed to have taken some ideas from other providers, not necessarily for the better or the good of the brand.

I do think this is an own goal. Some of us will get used to it and some of us will find ways to downgrade, and some of us will walk. Thing is, if every time you use your device it annoys you somehow, how long will you stick with it?

I actually was disappointed the minute I saw it at the keynote presentation, instead of giving their costumers more functionality (for example which app to put in the control center etc.) they tried to fix a perfectly good thing that wasn't broken to begin with!

When iPhone 5 came out I switched to the Galaxy s3 because I started to get the feeling Apple lost it's edge.

Functions that were there in Android almost from day one, made their way to Apple years later (email attachment for one). But I missed the elegance of the iOS interface, the eye candy, the well-populated appstore etc., so I switched back to Apple.

I hated the ugly random shaped Android icons, messy Android play store etc.

But guess what, Android is becoming better and better, a colleague of mine has the Galaxy s3 also and I’m seeing some pretty slick apps on his galaxy.

I won't be buying no 5c or 5s, I'm looking at the Motorola X now partly because of this iOS 7 disaster but also because it looks like Apple (Sir Johnny) is forcing all the developers to go his way (ultra flat and ugly) or the highway.

I wonder if he's doing this to destroy Forstall's legacy in spite of Apple's costumers?

Any way I gave iOS 7 a fair try, but downgraded to 6.1.4 back yesterday and will stay on 6 until I buy a new smartphone which won't be apple's.

I totally agree with MichelX. I bought an iPad 2 in 2011 and I have really liked every release of iOS, except this one. While there are many improvents to the functionality of the system, the adoption of stark white interfaces for system apps is aweful. Also, the removal of the docking bar (is that the correct term?) at the bottom in favour of a flat rectangle is just plain ugly. And, before, the Apple apologists decide to go on the attack against anywone who criticizes their beloved company, consider that there are folks out there that need colour and dimension to their electronic devices to use them properly in order to protect the quality of their eyesight. Apple doesn't allow for such customizations to my knowledge.

I really liked my iPad when I first purchased it. However, I'm seriously considering purchasing an Android tablet to replace it. Also, since OS X Mavericks looks to copy the look of iOS 7, it may be time to replace my Macbook pro with an HP computer. No, I'm not a Microsoft fan. However, I did have more control over aesthetics with that system than with iOS or OS X.

In closing, I would like to say I would like to remain a Mac customer. Apple needs to seriously consider ALL of it's customers, not just the fan people, if they want to stay on top and engender good will in the user community. This can certainly be possible if they would abandon the growing Microsoft-style arrogance they have appear to have adopted in relation to customer complaints.
