iOs 7 on iPad 3

Hello there.

I have ipad 3, new ipad with 16gb and 3g hardware.

Did you notice battery drain? I had my battery down in something like 4.30 hours.

The keyboard is really slow, i noticed an important lag during the use of it!

Wifi perfomance is really bad.

The only thing the customer care answered me is that they have no information about this, and i'm the only one experencing this problem........

Someone noticed the same?

Thanks

guys the following games have been stuttering a lot in my ipad 4 and iphone 5 after the update,

Temple run 2

Need for speed 2012

subway surfers at times

any high graphic games

since the ios 7 update everything is falling apart. The cover flow is faulty, the white theme is totally eye burning and trasistions are dumb. The previous version of the os was smooth fuctional and totally reliable. Apple if you are not ready to produce a perfect os dont produce os at all. Nobody complains thats. iphone 4, iphone 4s and ipad 3 & 2 are undergoing major faults by your os. what ever was working perfectly in the previous version now are stutering. kindly take action on this. And kindly provide the previous theme as a option.

  1. You are not adressing Apple directly. This is a user-to-user forum.
  2. And the vast majority of users are having no issues at all (iOS 7 runn quite well on my iPad 3 and iPhones (5), as well as a 4 and other devices I have direct knowledge of.
  3. Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
  4. You might also explore options in Settings for some of that.
  5. You can offer Apple feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/. But do not hold your breath waiting for iOS 6 to become available again.

Hi everyone, I am happy to report from my iPad 3 that I have upgraded it to iOS 7. I wish I had done it earlier but I was concerned due to this thread and other reports on the web. The release of 7.0.6 prompted me to do it.

I have no known issues to report. I have all iOS 7 bells and whistles turned on, including iCloud and Documents & Data. If it matters, I upgraded it connected to iTunes on my windows PC. I backed it up prior to the upgrade but I didn't do a restore, just a plain upgrade. iPad model A1416, 32GB.

It was entertaining to read your comments. Good luck.

I finally upgraded my iPad 3 from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 7.0.6. So far everything works for me. But whats with the battery drain? I left my iPad sitting in standby, and the battery went from 90% to dead in about 6 hours. I installed iOS 7 as a restore, and then loaded my backup. Are there any settings I can change to get the battery life back up?

First thing you can try is a reset. It may not improve the situation, but there are a number of reports that it does: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Following that, check your location servioces to see if yo have a nubmer of apps using it, an turn off those that don't really need it. (Settings app > Privacy > Location Services).

Hi James,

Just to let you know that you are right about telling 'Citysiva180' that this is an user-to-user forum, NOT Apple :-). But, I understand 'citysiva180' and his/her frustrations about iOS7. Since I've upgraded to iOS7, I have crash after crash, not on a daily basis, but hourly basis.

With the last upgrade to 7.1 the things went worse :-(. Things are happening randomly, but the most frustrating one is when I double-click Home button, in order to close an app, my iPad4 64GB Wifi+cellular, restarts?!

When I have to enter my passcode, my keboard background goes black, and i have to guess where letters and numbers are, by just pressing the keyboard keys, like I am in the dark. Luckily in this situation, when I press certain letter or number, I can briefly see that letter or number that appears for a fraction of a second, so if I made mistake, I press other key on keyboard till I find correct letter or number.

There are some other problems and they are ALL related to iOS7. I was VERY happy with version 6, but I am getting to the point where I might give up on iPad, and go for another tablet.

I've tried hard restore my iPad4 to factory settings a few times ... tried to empty memory so I can have at least 5-6GB of free memory, but NOTHING helps :-(

I had to write this, because (unfortunately) I am one of those people that have problems with iOS7. Tried to contact Apple, but I haven't got any reply yet. It is very frustraing situation and I've started to have headaches and I am very frustrated, especially because I've needed a few years to make up my mind to leave Windows based system and start to use Apple's iOS. iOS7 now reminds me of Windows 98 and my daily crashes with a 'blue screen of death' EVERY single day. On top of changing from Windows system and buy top-of-the-range iPad and iMac, I'v spent 100’s of pounds on apps (over £500 just for iPad apps). I don't mind to invest in something I like, and I DO like my iPad and all the apps, but iOS has gone into murky waters of bugs :-(

Forgot to mention iPad's GUI since iOS7 :-( ... Thanks to 3rd party's apps, I've stopped using ALL Apple's apps due to terrible GUI that my young teenage son would design better.

I was one of the folks who had lots of problems with IOS 7.0 on my 3rd Gen Ipad, 32gb wifi. I managed to revert to IOS6 before Apple closed the window.

I held out until 7.1 and installed it last week after reading Apple optimized it for older devices. I removed as much content on my Ipad as possible -- mainly photos -- and did a simple upgrade via Itunes.

I wanted to cut down on the amount of content that needed to be indexed and got it down to about 15gb. I thought about wiping the Ipad and starting with a clean install but decided to save that as a last-ditch option.

My Ipad is now working pretty well, much better than 7.0, no hiccups, no stalling or reboots.

I turned off the options that are supposed to slow it down: sharing, animations, etc. It sill lags a teeny bit when I go back to the home screen. But everyday use such as browsing, Twitter, Iphoto are all working about the same as under IOS6; meaing, fast enough that I don't get annoyed like I did with 7.0.

I'm holding out for the next Ipad before I buy another. Having had an Ipad 1 and 3, thinking the even number generations are the ones to get rather than the odd generations.

For now, it seems like the 3rd gen wifi works well enough with IOS 7.1 to tide me over.

Hi!

I have an iPad 3,3 GSM. I didn't update it since iOS 5.1.1. iPad works almost a week for me. And updated it to 7.1 at last Friday.

After update my battery drains notable fast. ~10-12% overnight(~8h) in standby mode. I've tried to turn off parallax, all location services and background apps. But nothing's changed.

So I''ve found that in usage section I ve almost the same values of usage and standby time. And I realized that one thing that drains my battery is "Find my ipad" service!!! I turned off it and my ipad works as with iOS 5.1.1:
2% overnight max!! And now it's drained only 14% after 4h20m of usage with parallax turned on! (yes i've only surfed web and read a book but nevertheless)

So it's your choice what to prefer - be sure that your ipad either protected from stealing or long battery life! 😉

P.S. and yes, maybe, there is a battery drain bug in iOS7.1 too and "find my ipad" could be more optimized!

I have no any problems with crashing apps. Neither in 5.1.1 nor 7.1

nin site is works fine (checked now). just you need to clean your running apps (there are no more than 5 apps same time, i need no more...)

Now I can suppose that the main reason of what happened at the first time after update is my battery was not calibrated in new iOS. And after full cycle of discharge(till auto turn off) and charge (without plugging even for sync) it works good!

P.S. (Fortunately) I have never done reset or restore any settings
