iOs 7 on iPad 3

Hello there.

I have ipad 3, new ipad with 16gb and 3g hardware.

Did you notice battery drain? I had my battery down in something like 4.30 hours.

The keyboard is really slow, i noticed an important lag during the use of it!

Wifi perfomance is really bad.

The only thing the customer care answered me is that they have no information about this, and i'm the only one experencing this problem........

Someone noticed the same?

Thanks

The Ars Technica review of IOS7 is illuminating on why the Ipad 3 suffers under IOS7. The use of transparencies and animations takes processor power. They restricted some of that on the Ipad 3 and the Iphone 4 -- but apparently not enough to my tastes.

I think Apple should have cut off the Ipad 3 & 2 from IOS7 altogether. I value speedy response above the latest design, while Apple is willing to force slower response to keep legacy models at the latest OS.

I think about my Ipad1. It is slower in terms of Safari loading, and has a less refined display, but still works smoothly with IOS5.

I've tried resetting settings, hard reboot, itunes syncing , turning off the parallax, turning on the bold fonts, turning on the contrast setting, they helped a little. My iPad 4 still seems like it is running on an unfinished test software, have had several lockups and reboots while just looking at the web with safari. Never had any issues with reboots with any of the previous IOS's. IOS7 seems fine and fairly polished on my iPhone 5 but I'd really like to go back to IOS 6 for my iPad. 7 really runs like a POS on the iPad, even on the latest model.

For my iPad 3 32GB WiFi+3G after update from iOS 6 it had many issues.

In fact I guess all of those described here. And I tried many solutions so here are my results.

Problems after updating to iOS 7:

- slow performance

- 3G often loosing connection

- keyboard delayed reaction

- apps stuck, get frozen or crash

- iPad don't react after unlocking from lock screen or switch between apps

- battery drain

Solution 1 - Erasing and restoring from iCloud backup

Results - iPad is working faster then after update from iOS 6. But it's not so smooth like iOS 6. Keyboard is reacting with little delay and some apps are getting stuck from time to time.

Solution 2 - Erasing iPad, restoring from iCloud backup and resetting all settings

Results - iPad is working much better. Sometimes You can notice not everything is smooth but keyboard react instantly and apps don't get stuck.

Solution 3 - Erasing iPad and don't restore from backup. Instead synchronize files and apps with iTunes

Results - IPad is reacting quite fast. Apps are working well. Keyboard reacting fast and overal performance is very close to iOS 6.

All 3 solutions don't solve battery drain problem.

I hope this helps.

Hi!

I have the lagging problem, but no battery drain... In fact it even seems better (with location services turned off).

I tried resetting the user setting but it did not help. Background changes and keyboard lagging made my IPad almost useless since I type a lot on it.

Then, I tried turning off the parallax effect. It did not resolve all the problems, but no more keyboard lagging (except if I have many big apps open like Evernote, Iannotate, Safari, mail calendar, and more at the same time. Also, background changes are way faster.

This looks like a software issue, since it works great on my iPad mini.
