My iPhone 5 won't charge with iOS 7

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 yesterday and since updating I have problems charging my iPhone in the wall outlet with the charging cable that came with the phone. It will charge when I use USB charging with my iMac. Anyone else have this problem?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4, Verizon, 16GB

I don't agree. A reasonable response is to see that there are many out there and to notify registered users directly that this will be a problem for us and then offer a solution. I have 8 cables that will not charge my new iPhone 5s. Had I known that cables would be chipped and blocked, I would not have bought them over the past 6 months.

I never tried iOS 7 beta, I never recieved a notification, and I now have only one cable that I can use. That doesn't work in my lifestyle...I keep one by my bed, at work, in my car, at my desk, in my laptop bag, etc. Blocking all compatible cables is very frustrating.

UPDATE!

My issue was NOT due to wrong cable as I am using all Apple accessories.

Mine had to do with "Trust This Computer?" which seemed to go back and forth possibly due to the fact I use VMWare with my Mac for Windows 8 and it asks each time which computer to connect my iPhone to.

It stopped this behavior after the 7.0.1 release and has been working fine since.

Amazon offers products from many supplier web sites. Some suppliers offer great products at a great value, others not so much. Amazon is a great source for values in many product arenas, but you can buy knockoffs. There are many iPhone 5 OtterBox cases that typically retail for $50 that are under $17 on Amazon ...some of these are actually OtterBox, while others are knockoffs. Amazon has very good feedback options for customers to register dissatisfaction with various suppliers they have accessed via the Amazon web site.

I'm having the exact same problem!

It's doing my nut in and i almost threw my iPhone through the window as a result of this frustration.

I've never had any problems charging my iPhone 5 before, I got it in January so its not even that old.

Now after updating it, it won't charge at all.

I've tried it in every single socket in the house, 2 different macs and one computer. Nothing seems to be working.

So I now have a dead phone, which I need as I've just moved half way down the country and have no idea the surroundings so rely on my phone a lot!

When phone gets plugged into a mac I get the following message:

"Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disable

To prevent damaging your computer, the USB device drawing too much power has been disabled. Other devices may have also been disabled. When you disconnect the device drawing too much power, your other USB devices will be enabled again."

Theres nothing else plugged into the mac and the iphone is off so theres no power anywhere!

I'm baffled!! Anybody manage to sort theirs out?

Regarding the Mac, I think I would Restart the computer with some other USB device connected via whatever USB port you were using. This will at least tell you that your Mac, the USB port and the USB connected device all work fine. Next, I would do a soft reset of your iPhone by holding down the sleep key and the home key at the same time ...see if you do get the Apple logo at all on the iPhone 5. If you do, wait until the iPhone restarts and then go plug it into a reliable AC outlet ...don't touch the iPhone for at least a couple of hours. Go back after a couple of hours and see if you have increased the charge to any degree.

Don't know if you have an Apple Store anywhere near, but they can attach a device to your iPhone and see if you actually have a bad battery. If so they can replace it.

> At least yours charges. Mine died while it was CHARGING and it said it was CHARGING, and now it won't charge

I'm in the same situation - no cable will charge my iPad mini, including the original and also authorized Belkin cable, nor old 30-in with Apple lightening adapter. Overnight it drained completely and now I don't even see how I can downgrade. Luckily it's under warranty and I suppose there must be a way to wipe and reinstall 😟

Same here, my cable showed charging but the battery was DECREASING....... Thou I am not sure if there is a problem with my cable.

Charging via a wall socket work fine, charging with my laptop doesnt.

What make it more safe to block charging via laptop and forces people to charge using the wall socket where there will be a much larger electricity current and voltage?

I was thinking of getting an IPHONE or a Samsung Galaxy in the next few months.

I guess I will go with samsung.
