Does iOS 7 Slow Down an iPhone 4?

Looking for feedback on how well iOS 7 performs on an iPhone 4 before I upgrade.

Just a little info that may be helpful. My wife got a new iPhone 5s not long ago. Her iCloud storage that she had to connect with during the setup was on the order of 5-6 GB. It took more than two hours for the iCloud docs and data to complete the assimilation process. During that time, she could have used the device - meaning, there was nothing stopping here from using the phone during that part of the process. Had she tried to use the phone during that time (she did not, but let it complete), it would have likely been laggy during the process completion.

So, the advice to go to Settings and turn iCloud documents and data off would seem to be OK advice if you wanted to use the device during the migration process. However, I think the best thing would probably be to let the operation finish. On her 5s it took over two hours, and on an iPhone 4 it might take quite a bit longer.

There are quite a few posters saying that their iPhone 4 works fine with iOS 7. So the issue is what is the root of the problem on their devices. There are some solutions posted here. I don't think the ability of going back to iOS 6 is as important as defining the right way for people to transition from 6.1.3 to iOS 7. This thread is helping that, but it would be nice if Apple came out with their own recommendation.

For Apple to do that though, they need to understand the problem. They don't read these threads. They have a product feedback link on their home page for that. The more people that provide them with constructive feedback, the quicker they can resolve issues, and perhaps issue an update that provides fixes or publishes a recommendation list.

Provide Apple your feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Don't just complain. Give them a problem description and what you've tried that didn't work

please i beg u please .................

This is not, nor willit every be, an option via Apple. Apple will not allow the downgrading of the iOS, for multiple technical reasons far too numerous to detail here.

However, Google is your friend.

TALHA EJAZ. Tou could try turning off iCloud documents and data, and any other iCloud items that frequently refresh. Check your available memory - it's in Settings/General/Usage in iOS 6 - not sure where it's located in iOS 7 (I haven't made the jump tomiOS 7 yet on my iPhone 4). If your memory is greater than 90% used, delete some stuff - you can always get it back quickly via an iCloud download. There's probably other RAM or storage items in iOS 7 that I don't know about. You could do another post in this community on how to speed up gaming in iOS7.

this does not encourage me to buy a newer iPhone. If this upgrade broke the recent-but-not-current models, what will the next upgrade do to the now current models???

Apple has seriously broken the trust relationship.

I went with iPhone because I need it to just work. I need to not worry about losing my contacts. I need to not have to explain to my wife why things crash all the time. I felt like I could trust Apple. They had the reputation for being concerned about quality.

I might as well have a windows phone.
