iPhone 5 camera not working after ios 7 update

I have the same problem, and I have had it for the last month or so. It's a really annoying problem and I can't make it work. I have tried everything that I could, several times, without any succes! Apple, it's time for you to make this work!!

Know how you feel cuz I'm in the same position and apple your going loose me after being so loyal for years your lack of support to resolve is07 update issues! My i5 was working perfect until the stupid update and now more issues than I can list with not one update/restore/reset or anything to resolve! I feel embarrassed to try and sell this dodgy device and now left thinking samsung for me maybe!

Let me add my name to this ever growing list of issues. My camera and flashlight stopped working on June 4th.

Does anyone from apple even read these forums? It's a **** shame that there hasn't been any recognition from them about these problems.

Mine is also an iphone 5 and the rear camera is dead after upgrading the software. Not the same day, but like a week after. No bumps, no downloads, nothing changed, just charging the whole night like usual and the next day, puf, dead..

What I noticed is that after upgrading the phone began to heat like crazy on use.

Maybe the heat has broke the camera itself?

As we can see, there isn't much use on keeping this thread going as Apple's ****** customer care, don't care about customers.

I'm from Portugal and my camera broke several months ago. I tried every single sugestion here, i don't know how many times now, always with the same result. There's nothing that makes my camera work for a second.

Having said this, and i talk directly to the US based people that are facing this issue, do you know any means of filing a complaint, based on the lack of comunication from a service provider, when he is asked to do it? Any means where someone may take the time to read, for instance this thread, and forcing a response from Apple. I don't want a new phone, well i do want a new phone, i just want some explanation from Apple, saying that they can fix this issue and if so (how much will it cost me) or they can't fix this issue and provide solutions for this situation.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on US institutions work, that's why my questions.

FIX FOR REAR CAMERA AND FLASHLIGHT!!!

I also had the same flash and rear camera problems as everyone else but I figured it was a software problem.

To fix the flash/flashlight, simply download the flashlight app. The one everyone used before iOS 7. The flash should work immediately.

To fix the rear camera go to Settings > General > Restrictions. Enable restrictions and turn the Camera off, then take the restriction off. Check your camera, it should work immediately.

Hope this answers a lot of questions and saves a bunch of money due to Apple's failures.

Ok,

so after a week or so more of erratic working my iPhone 5 has decided to die while I was running. It overheated so much that burnt my arm through the case. That´s when I realised I was running without music and tracking...

So I´ve sent it to the technical maintenance. It seems that the last IOS update causes overheating, at least for mine that is what happened.... I think the whole motherboard should be ruined due to the superheat. I couldn´t touch the phone for 1 hour...

Let´s see what magical tech support form apple says...

Mine is also an iphone 5 and the rear camera is dead after upgrading the software. Also found that the its not holding it battery as long as it did before

and that the back of the phone gets really hot at points.

This totally worked! My front camera showed no motion and was just blurry. The rear camera would only engage randomly. Prior to that my front camera was no longer focusing properly.

This suggestion only took one time of pressing down on the upper right corner and turning it off. When it came back up everything was working fine! Thanks for the info jjgolfer!!!

I've got the same problem with my iPhone 5. Rear camera does not work, and flashlight stopped working recently also. ARGH! 3rd party apps say: "This device does not have LED light" 😟. Some fixes posted here helped for a short time, but I'm looking for a permanent solution. Right now I can't her my rear camera and flashlight to work even for a shortest moment with any of the 'fixes' posted here.

Unfortunately, my 1 year warranty is over and Apple won't replace my phone. I am mad at you, Apple! Fix this ASAP or I will never buy your products again! You lose more and more loyal customers.

One thing an Apple employee suggested as a fix is to try iPhone reset in DFU mode. Did anyone try that?

I´ve sent my iphone to tech support after it died 3 weeks ago. I was running with my GPS tracking app and music on and it just stopped. It was so so hot that it burnt my skin trough the bracelet... after that.... no life signals...

They have gived me another "new" iphone, that I think it´s a refurbished one. the other day it was shutting down by itself.... with no apps open or anything running on it.... so I think I will have to go back to support center and ask for another one again...

I think Iphone 5 has some technical issues apple don´t want to accept and since 6 is going to be out in stores in few months I presume they´re going to die one by one with each software update...
