How do I remove icons from Safari welcome page in iOS 7?

I have just up-graded to iOS7 and opened my Safari browser. There are four icons on the welcome screen and four links on a favourites bar. The links are to Apple, Disney, Yahoo and ESPN UK. I did not choose these links and I have no wish to use them. I have been able to hide the favourites bar but there is no obvious way to delete the icons. I have tried touching and holding them but they do not shake nor offer an 'x' for deletion like home screen icons so how do I clear away this unwanted advertising?

I have a screen shot but don't know how to upload it to this discussion board...?

Go to Bookmarks -> Favourites and then edit your Favourites.

Deleting a favourite will delete one of the icons on the Welcome page.

Adding one will add an icon to the Welcome page.

I am in stupidsville w my smartphone. Only 3images came thru but I don't even know how to get to the screen you showed. I click on the safari button on my phones home screen. Then touch the send to square w arrow going up. Then go to bookmark. I se my favorite but from there nothing. Can you please help. Thx jeanne

Open safari tap on the book icon (middle icon) bookmarks page will come up. There will be 3images below the word bookmarks. Insur that the icon with the book is blued out. If not tap on the book. Look at the lower right corner of this screen and tap the word edit. Tap the red badge and then tap delete.

I struggled a long time and looked at the bottom left hand corner of the Safari page and there is an small edit sign. I clicked on that and all the dials had x's on them. Click the x and the dial goes away. You can also move them around. I like them in alphabetic order.

Dont forget to hit the edit button then delete the one you select. It works perfectly.
