I've done all this stuff, wasted hours on it but with only a slight improvement. Two clean installs, set up as a new phone, ALL power hungry settings switched off, four full drains and charges to recalibrate my battery....and I'm still a good two hours down on usage time compared to iOS6.

Did you see the last post on page 4? And the one two posts above that? I spoke of how to do a proper clean install.

Once you download the files the first time through iTunes you could have gotten a corrupted copy like I did.

To restore with a fresh set of files you have to either update iTunes if you have not or back up and uninstall iTunes and reinstall fresh to prompt the program to ask you to download the files and you should get a fresh set of files.

Sounds like the same issue I had and no matter how many times you do all of the above it's not going to fix it.

When there is a rush to download things that just came out, it's very easy to get a corrupted set of files. When my husband was trying to update his phone, he couldn't connect, couldn't get iTunes to update, nothing was working properly. I made him wait a couple hours and he did the upgrade later in the night and his phone is fine. He almost hooked into my computer and used my files too! So glad he didn't. One nightmare was enough.

I've not charged my phone since 9:36 AM yesterday and right now, a little over 24 hours and it's only down to 67% of life left in the battery. That's with talking on the phone, playing a few games, fiddling with apps, setting up new apps from lost data and texting a little bit. All over wifi too.

I was able to improve my battery life on my 4s by doing the following. Although I don't like the idea of having to disable features that I previously had, I have greatly improved my battery life and I believe it's almost back to where it was before upgrading to iOS 7.

Spotlight Search OFF

Background APP refresh OFF for which ever apps you can afford

Accessibility menu

1.) Reduce motion ON (no more wiggly icons. I couldn't care less)

2.) Inease contrast ON (this will disable the "color bleed" affect which I have read kills battery). Either way I have found it's actually easier to read with it off

Siri raise to speak OFF

***Additionally, I have done the "battery recalibration" procedure twice and did a hard reset (hold power button and home button) but I did not notice a difference after either.

i am in the same boat as most of you guys (and girls). great batter life. new battery 3 months before so i know that is good. all the way up til the 7 update it was great. well acceptable anyway. but now its worthless, almost unuseable unless you can keep it on a charger. i go away for the day i cant make it unless i have one. i have more turned off now than i did before. and i did recals on batter to no avail. i hope this gets fixed soon. apple has generally been a standard but with this this is pretty bad.

I've messed around with a lot of settings. Biggest difference for me is wifi. With it on battery drain is double what it was at idle. With just mobile data instead the mysterious usage stops racking up so fast. For standby I leave it on otherwise imessage doesn't work properly. I've turned off Siri altogether as it still isn't much use.

I've turned location services on and off and they don't make much difference. I've turned off auto time zone, spotlight and a few other odd things. I've also make a black wallpaper which makes it much more acceptable.

Unfortunately you can't turn off cellular service separately and leave wifi on as that could separate out carrier issues.

I do notice that if wifi and 3G are on I usually find its connected to 3G not wifi when its upstairs and been asleep for a while. 3G drains battery in use faster than wifi but wifi seems to drain faster in standby.

I did the update straight from the phone and not via iTunes. I'm also on 7.02 which doesn't seem to be any different battery wise. I have restarted the phone completely a couple of times and battery drain was less after each of them.

There's no way I'm erasing all data. An upgrade should work. There's no reason why it shouldn't. If I wanted to delete everything and start again every upgrade I'd have for another Nokia!

I do think the battery calculation method has gone wonky as phone was appearing to charge must faster than before and it's skipping down rather than counting steadily.

if anyone is keeping track of the count - add 1 more to that list.

Had a perfectly working 4S on 6.1 that I absolutely regret upgrading to 7 within minutes of rel like a kid in a candy store. From over 3-4 days of standby/use to about 10 hrs (max) on a wipedout phone, no email, all power saving settings enabled as discussed before... Absolutely frustrating not being able to go thru a whole day now!

The battery gets sucked down to 20% from 100% with LIMITED use in 10 hours.

Something is very odd indeed. I have a iPhone 5 with IOS 7.0.2. It has been 30 hours since my last full charge on my phone and I am at 77% of battery remaining. During that time I have used the phone 1 hour and 40 minutes with the rest of the time being on standby.

APPLE -

😠😢😟😮

I am a cancer patient heading to the Mayo Clinic for surgery. After downloadig ios 7 and shutting down every conceivable option on the phone except making a call or sending a text, my battery is draining obscenely fast. I sent 2 text messages at 100% battery and after receiving a reply from each message, I was down by 2%.

If I am so ill that I have to go to the Mayo Clinic and need the phone for an EMERGENCY, what am I going to do? At this rate my phone won't make the flight!

Do you have an answer to that?!

Instead of ignoring all of the complaints either make corrections to software before making it available, don't make it irreversible, and dont make us - the customers - sound like the pain-in-the-*** idiots when we ask for help!

I need my cell not to check my email or do twitter or play on Facebook, I need it because I am VERY ill and the phone is a LIFE LINE!

WAKE UP! Get your **** together! Otherwise, you will be getting worse news from customers that go beyond complaints on your discussion boards.

I've tried all the following with my iPhone 5:

Reset phone

Turned off background app updates

Turned off Airdrop

Turned off Parallax

Turned off Auto Brightness and reduced brightness

Switched off Location Services

Turn off Wifi and Bluetooth when not in use

Turned off All System Services except Setting Time Zone

Turned on Limit Ad Tracking in Privacy/Advertising

Set Diagnostics and Usage to "Don't Send"

Set Fetch New Data in Mail Manual

Turned off Push in Mail

After all of these measures, my battery life is about 12-16 hours with maybe one short phone call per day and several texts.

The only thing I haven't tried is restoring the software.

I'm hoping there will be a software fix for this problem.
