Hi all,

Updated my iPhone 5 OTA to iOS 7 on 19/9 ( shut down all apps and a hard reset b4 the update ). Since then and up until last week the battery has been acting up. B4 the update I was getting usage of 10+ hrs and standby of 30+ hrs. . After iOS 7 I was getting usage of max. 6:30 hrs and standby less than 20 hrs. Started following this and other threads about 2 weeks ago

I've also tried all the things that kathukid has done in the post above with a little bit of variation.

Location services limited only to the apps that I use, all others off.

System Services all off.

Battery calibration to adapt to iOS 7 ( full charge > use till shut down 5 times and also 5 hard resets at different times ).

In addition I've done the following :

Notification Centre limited to the apps that I use on daily basis.

iCloud > off except find my iPhone.

Automatic downloads in iTunes & App Store > off.

Settings > Cellular > USE CELLULAR DATA FOR > limited only to the apps that I use when I'm out and about ( I'm on wifi at home and office ).

Since last week the battery has shown a remarkable progress.

For the first time after the update I started seeing a usage of 8:30+ hrs and standby 30+ hrs.

Of course it's still not the same ( doubt if it will ever be like it used to ) but at the end of the day it's a ... Progress.

I believe that the power demand of iOS 7 and the A6 Chip processor on iPhone 5 are not well integrated ( just an impression since I'm not a tech guy ).

I know, by reading every post here, that a lot of you guys have tried all these measures without success.

Just wanted to share my experience with iOS 7 on iPhone 5.

Respect and Regards to all.

I've had the following issue several times over the past weeks on my iPhone 5 and iOS 7: in the morning the battery life is around 20% Out of nowhere within an hour the phone's dead. It just shuts down.

I've used all the energy saving tips, still the same issue.

Strangely enough, if I charge my phone, within 10-15 minutes it's charged for 50%, but charging the other 50% takes an hour or more.

I have a feeling it's either related to the camera app or messages. (Those apps I used the last)

Or the fact that you can turn off 4G, but not 3G.

Maybe, in light of the fast charging, there's a system bug that doesn't correctly get the status of the real remaining battery life.

Anyway, Apple needs to fix this a.s.a.p.

As per the iOS 7 battery life concern I would like to say that it is easy to save the battery of your iOS device. If you want to increase your iOS 7 battery life then you need to follow the some steps on your iPhone. First you need to close the automatic app updates. For that you need to click on Setting -> General Menu -> Automatic app updates -> OFF.

Dear Steven,

Obviously your battery needs calibration to adapt to the new iOS 7 modem firmware. To achieve that you need to charge to 100% and leave it on charge after it shows the 100% for at least another 45 mins ( trickle charge ). Then completely drain the battery till it shuts down. You need to try this for a few times ( for me it worked after the 5th trial ).

If you already tried this for a few times then I'm sorry I was just trying to offer help through my personal experience with iOS 7.

Regards.

Dear Steven,

I forgot to add that the process of charging the iPhone from a shut down state to 80% would take around a little bit more than an hour or so ( fast charge process ). Then till it shows 100% about another hour or so ( charge continuation process ). In addition to around 45 mins after it shows 100% ( trickle charge ).

So, the whole charge process should be around 3 hrs ( using the charger supplied in the phone box ).

You can check this info at Apple Battery Care.

Regards.

I have had an iphone 5 for 1 year now. Battery life was acceptable until December it went in the tank. Full charge to 20% in 4-5 hours with little usage. I went to the Apple store at which point they told me it was normal but after some talk he would do me the "favor" of replacing it. The new one worked fine for a total of 1 month. Now we are back to the same issue. I went back to the Apple store and they told me it is normal and battery was fine. The guy actually went on to tell me "you have a LOT of songs in itunes". I have 81 songs!!!!! I thought these phones were built for playing music!!!!
