How to clear unread email on IOS 7?

I'm showing 2000 unread emails on my work email hosted by GoDaddy. I went into that email acct through my desktop browser and marked all the emails as 'read' but my iPhone 4S with newly updated IOS7 is still showing 2000 unread emails.

Note:

I had same notification with my Gmail acct and when I marked all those emails as 'read' on Gmail, that cleared up on my iPhone, too. Just wondering why it won't work with my work email through GoDaddy.

thx.

Finally I could find the solution.

Scroll down on each of your Inbox e-mails and download all your emails. When you see "updated just know" keep scrolling down and more and more e-mails will appear and will be downloaded (it will take more than an hour).

As soon as you finish with all downloads go to EDIT, mark all and mark as read.

Be patient and you will get rid of all of the annoying unread emails.

good luck. marki

Unfortunately dear deepseabc. Not Done! Talking about Windows Live mail. I have marked all my messages as read in my Windows Live Webmail. Then I deleted the e mail account from the Iphone. I installed the account again. I downloaded all the messages again. I marked all as read, maybe 200 times, again and again! NOTHING! After a few minutes there they are: Thousands of messages appear as unread again! I even re-installed Ios7. NOTHING! APPLE, please FIX IT! Why destroy something that was workinf perfectly? Should I go back to Blackberry (the king of e-mails) again?

Hey sorry it didn't work for you. I am by no means a computer repair guy, I just went round and round trying to get my iPhone 4 to stop reflecting the hundreds of unread e-mails and that is what worked for me. I too hope they get it fixed, if for no other reason than for every person that is looking at these forums to try and fix it themselves, there are probably a dozen that are just living with the problem. Good luck...

Thanks guys for sharing your trials... Sadly didn't work for me, well kinda half worked... OK I have 6000 or so 'undread' messages and after getting through about 2000 or so the iPhone then for some reason starts again at the most recent emails so I have to start downloading all the old ones again. I've had two attempts for about 1 hour each time and ended up with the same result.

Anyone else out there with a better idea?

ps. This is CRAZY - Apple why do you release upgades that quite obviously haven't been thought through. To dictate that I should use IMAP rather than POP3 is verging on communist.... FIX IT PLEASE!

I had this problem and after reading and trying all of the above still had the problem; I have now fixed it - I have an iphone 4 with now IOS7 showed about 6500 emails unread; - simply go to the mail box showing the unread emails scroll to the bottom and keep scrolling down until it says 'checking mail' it will then download 100 emails - after it gets to 100 and stops select EDIT and mark them all as read, then scroll down and do the same again. took me about a day to do bit by bit but you have to actually download them all before you can mark them as read; good as gold now - hope that helps
