You seem very keen to keep letting people know you are an apple shareholder, for all we know your apple holding is worth £100 in an overall portfolio worth £150, so I suppose one could see that as a significant portion. Never put all your eggs in one basket and do make sure your portfolio is diversified, although I don't believe apple will go bust, but nothing is impossible, just ask shareholders in many us and uk banks.

I am a shareholder in a major bluechip company that I also work for, believe me this doesn't make me privy to all policies and procedures as many are covered by NDA's, so I can't see how you know what apple PandPs are around TCF.

Trust me in my profession length of relationship is never a factor we take I to consideration

The penny has dropped that by looking at your other posts, you get off of baiting and goading people who post on here with genuine concerns, that many others agree with.

You have in your opinion a smart answer for everything, are clearly very self opinionated and by your username, probably trigger happy too, unless you are a wanna be a marine who perhaps wasn't quite tall enough as you are clearly showing little man syndrome.

Oh if I don't respond to anymore of your non constructive posts, it's because either apple have barred me or I can't be bothered to load your gun.

Bought about $200 worth of Apple shares back in '85 when it was around $16 a share. Also bought other shares in other companies. Don't worry about whether I'm diversified.

As far as how I know more about Apple's policies, as I said, let it SUFFICE that I'm a shareholder. I have no requirment to give further explanation.

As far as my military service? Again, not your concern. I suggest you avoid personal slander. That's against the terms of this forum.

Thank you so much - this provided the answer I needed to resolve this problem for me. I did not have special characters in the name for the wi-fi router but I had capital letters. It seems that, for some reason, the iPhone preference (but no other device has this preference) is for the name to be all lower case letters - that's my guess because once I changed the router name to all lower case letters my iPhone was able to connect. It was after the iOS 7 upgrade that I was having problems and this resolution worked to resolve this particular fluke,

LouLou71 I agree with you about that fool who seems so clever about appl. He's got shares so he thinks got the right to tell people about stuff he knows nothing about. And as for the shares he has they worth nothing more than what he paid. I mean he bought about $200 with of them and he only a small insect to them and he a nothing then to them, and not as if he's known to them personally as all other shareholders are nothing apart from they put money in and get nothing back. And as far as been army he more likely sat at base all time doing nothing as lots of them are so he a nothing really to anybody. Just another pawn in a big game he never wins.

Nov 2, 2013 2:53 PM in response to Sandskrit

To Sandskrit,

My router SSID name is in all capitals and my two iphone5es and ipad2 accepted it ok.

This may be fluke with a particular make and model of router?

But one thing is certain, whenever an idevice has problems joining a network, a good way to troubleshoot would be to change settings back and forth. Such as change SSID name, security type, password, anything to toggle the current state of the router.

I have the same problem.

Since I've upgraded to iOS 7 my wifi stopped working and the Bluetooth as well.

I tried already all the solution's that you suggested and nothing solved it.

I really don't understand 'very disappointed and ****** off .

How can it be that a huge and international and respectable corporation like apple can just ignore and don't care about his clients?

It's a disscrase , I guess it's true that since Jobs is gone apple are going down.

I'm so disappointed ...without the WIFI it's just a piece off metal!!

My shares aren't relevant to whether or not I know about the technology. And the shares are worth far more than I paid for them, since they've split three times since then. Feel free to do the math, and compare the stock price from '85 to '13. Still, they are only a portion of my portfolio, and not the only tech company in that portfolio.

I've been an Apple customer/investor (as well as a customer/investor in other tech companys) for decades. Over that time I've come to understand some (but not all) of the inner workings of those companes. I've been a developer for a while now as well, as more of a side hobby than anything.

So, yes, I know more than the average user. That's one of the reasons I come to this forum, to offer technical assistance. Which I have done many, many times. And one of the things that I've always stood behind is adhering to the agreements in place. In this situation, it's the warranty. And as long as Apple is following the rules of the warranty and the applicable laws, then that's sufficient.

As I've said before, I think the warranty should be two years, and I would support a move in that direction. But as far as giving away free product to customer's outside of their warranty, just because? No. That's an unwise financial decision.

As far as my military service? The fact that you disparage it whatsoever, with no knowledge of what I actually did in the service, is a petty and pathetic attempt to incite a vitriolic response. I will simply chuckle, let your ignorance amuse me, and then move on.

Offer assistance then, your most recent posts have been argumentative and aggressive.

Really? Look at these:

Now, those are all constructive and helpful. Show me where, in this thread, I've been 'argumentative'. I have been direct, that's true. But argumentative? Support your assertion, please. (Edit: Having reviewed all my posts in this thread, the only times I've even been close to 'argumentative' was in RESPONSE to someone that displayed an inappropriate attitude. In other words, I give back what is given. Ask a direct technical question in a polite and calm manner, get a clear and direct response. Act like a fool, get treated like one.)

In fact, I've even explicitly dilineated my position, earlier in this thread:

TJBUSMC1973 wrote:

Facts:

Hardware warranty was for one year, as mutually agreed upon by manufacturer, reseller, and customer at time of purchase.

Option to increase hardware coverage by an additional year was available to the customer up until the very last day of the original warranty.

Apple is offering replacements at approximately a 65% discount to customers that are outside of warranty.

Apple is not required (at least in the U.S.) to provide srvice free of charge to any device outside of warranty, and is actually doing more than the law requires by offering discounted replacements.

(Let me know if you want to dispute any of the above facts, please)

My Opinions:

Apple should offer some form of compensation to affected users, if those users can prove that their devices is malfunctioning due to a defect, and not due to abnormal wear & tear or damage.

Customer should accept personal responsibility for choosing not to extend their coverage, and act in a polite and courteous manner when requesting that the manufacturer offer some form of compensation.

I haven't insulted anyone. I've been direct. There's a difference. Do you want to discuss the Facts or my Opinions?

Some of your posts even ridicule some users who clearly English is not their first language and have challenges articulating their issues, you use SA acronyms to to patronise some users.

SA acronyms? What's that? And I recommend that people post in their native language, so they can more easily get technical assistance, not to ridicule them. I'm beginning to think you have very thin skin and are too easily offended.

Slander is spoken by BTW

Yes, thank you for the clarification. In print, it's libel. I appreciate the grammatical correction. As a return courtesy, should I sift through your previous posts and assist you with your need for grammatical corrections? Or was that simply a thinly veiled attempt to make a 'jab'?

Just trying to get to the start of this long thread, read farther and you'll see way too much bickering...

I have 2 iphone 5's and they won't connect or show available wifi. I did not have the grayed out button problem.

I did all of the suggestions noted in all of the threads, nothing worked. While I was restoring my phone, I took my wifes and in settings/wifi/choose a network, I typed in my router name and password. The phone did not recognize or find the router. 2 minutes later it showed the router as available! I typed in the PW and it immediately connected.

-I'm not happy that it doesn't roam for wifi without typing in the router name, but at least I can use my home wifi now.

I've said plenty on the real issue.

You've said plenty on anything but the real issue. You won't touch the real issue with a barge-pole. You have not produced a single comment on Apple selling people iPhones with defective wifi chips and charging them the full price. Instead you exhort the victims who are rightfully annoyed by Apple's bad-faith acts (selling defective products) and omissions (withholding an explanation) to be as nice as pie, and ask Apple for help rather than demand it, especially if their length of relationship is not sufficiently long. Touché! How can those ingrates be demanding anything from the Great Fructus Malus? Kowtow, kowtow, kowtow! You go on about warranty periods. Touché! After all, that piece-of-crap wifi chip DID hold on for one year, so what else do they want? You also cleverly point out that wifi is not the primary function of the iPhone. Touché again! Why, I believe that you as a shareholder must suggest that iPhone 6 should dispense with that inessential function! After all - and that is my personal favorite - if there is no wifi, the customers can always use their cellular data! I have finally remembered what it reminds me of: "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche!" If you don't know French, you can always Google it - and if your wifi is out, you can always use your cellular data :-)

Last but not least, please help me (see, I am asking you nicely) - I cannot find the button to give you ten points for solving my problem. I thought that my problem was a broken wifi chip, now I see that my problem is having chosen the wrong manufacturer. I thank you for that!

Absolutely agree!! nobody cares.....my wifi and Bluetooth doesn’t work after downloading ios7 .... I just can not believe there are so many people affected and still nothing happened ......and apple still keeps saying it is not the fault of ios7 and it would break soon anyway even without downloading it as suggested by apple.... maybe it is conspiracy theory.... and apple is hoping that all those affected will go and replace for their new machine......

Well i just completed filing the 1st legal action (of the many to follow) against the "ferrari" of the smartphones. I will keep you posted.

My wife chose Samsung instead of Apple during her contract renewal after witnessing first hand the BS treatment we have been having.

Nice going with this IOS7 update!!

Moved around some pictures, changed a couple of fonds, soon facing million dollar (euro) law suits.

Well Done, Technical Deps! Fantastic testing department!!

What ON EARTH have you been doing before launching iOs7???
