wifi doesn't work with IOS 7

It worked! This was the catalyst that finally opened my Apple fanboy eyes. I went into the store to play with the Android phones, deciding after 5 years that it would be worth at least checking out what the enemy was doing. I fell in love. Somewhere along the way, Android has started to do all the innovation the Apple used to be doing. Now Apple comes out with a new phone and has a couple of nice features, while my new Galaxy Note has dozens. it makes me sad, because I still love my iPad, but ultimately, this was the best possible fix for my wifi woes. also, at least so far, I have found less people in the Android community that are like TJWHATEVER579DUDE. I hope I never acted like that.

I'm haaving this exact same problem after I updated my iphone4 to iOS 7. Did you get your problem solved? How? My wi-fi was working fine till I updated my phone yesterday.

An update. I had been able to get WiFi to work sometimes by doing the home+lock button reset, but it has worked less and less. I had tried the wipe and restore as of 7.0.2, but not since 0.3. Just to cover all bases, I just tried that, but no luck, WiFi remains grayed out. I actually have two weeks of warranty left so ASAP will go in and see what my carrier and/or Apple will do for me, and will report back.

Good luck with that. Maybe there ought to be a Facebook page for this. I posted a link to a change.org petition about this very issue and it got deleted. I'd be interested in what happens with the suit tho it would be best as a class action.

After fiddling around unsuccessfully a bit longer with my family's two iPhone 4s, I went to the local Apple store. I was told I was dealing with hardware problems and since both phone had been purchased recently they gave me two new iPhone 4s. These new iPhone 4s had iOS6 installed and Apple personel updated them to iOS7 in the store while I was waiting. After the software update both new phones had no problems with WiFi and BT, so I became adventurous and decided to also update while in the store the iPhone 4s I use myself for work to iOS7. And it also worked fine. I left the Apple store with 2 new and 1 old iPhone 4s running iOS7 with the feeling that may be it what I had experienced was really related to some early revs of some chip and things would be fine from now on. UNTIL YESTERDAY! My wifes 'new' iPhone 4s, i.e., the new phone I was given in the Apple store, is showing the dreaded greyed out WiFi and BT switch since yesterday. No more WiFi operation at home, the FitBit no longer synchronizes (BT), the hands free in the car no longer works (BT), ...

Given the above, it is most likely just a matter of time until our other two iPhone 4s show the same problem. Can't wait for it ... BTW, so far I have kept our iPad2 and iPad3 on iOS6 ...

And no, nothing changed over the last couple of days. No new iOS downloads. No changes to the networking environment, which actually is irrelevant as the issue is NOT not being able to connect to the network. You simply can't turn WiFi and BT on in the WiFi setting screen!

Something seems fundamentaly broken here. It would be nice to hear at a minimum an acknowledgment of the issue from Apple.

friends, i got my iphone 5 replaced twice as it is under warranty and both my new replaced phones have the same wifi issue after i update to ios 7.

i think all i can do is wait for a favourable update.

btw, am i the only one facing wifi issues on iphone 5 or are there are any other iphone 5 users with this problem here???

No you are not. There are currently 52+ pages on this topic so, unless you've read the entire thing, you might have missed the 3 or 4 other times I've mentioned that my iPhone 5 WAS affected by the upgrade. Most who are posting act as if it was limited to the 4S. But I've seen posts about the 5 and the regular and mini iPads as well.
I was super fortunate in that my local Apple store listened to reason and replaced my phone not long after the update but I am not upgrading again to the new OS until I read here that it's been fixed. I'm not holding my breath. I'm thinking that the only users who are safe to use the iOS7 are those who purchase their device with the OS pre-installed.

well, i had to upgrade to ios7 as i wanted to restore my old back up.

so, i think should sell my i5 and buy the i5s rather.

have u heard of any i5s having similar issue?

I don't know why you had to upgrade to restore. I restored once I got home and I'm still on iOS6. The 5S was released at the same time as the upgrade to iOS 7 so all of those are pre-installed with the OS. No, they won't have a problem.

I made an appointment for today at the Genius Bar and took in my little bad boy. We discussed the problem, he verified that it was happening and did not go away after resetting Network Settings. Then he ran a diagnostic from a connected iPad which reported a failed WiFi antenna. At that point he agreed to a warranty replacement. I had 11 days left and was putting off the visit until it failed reliably as I didn't want to have the "TV Repairman Problem" (for those old enough to remember when TVs got repaired they were notorious for wonking out right up until when a repairman came out to look at it. Yes, they came to your house ;D)

So, whether it was really an antenna problem, or that's just what the diag coughs up, we can't say. It doesn't seem right to me that a broken antenna would only fail after an OD upgrade and then fail in a progressive manner. OTOH Apple was certainly helpful fast and friendly with me on the warrantly issue. Now I have 90 + 11 days to see if the new one fails. I'll certainly report back if it drops dead again, either in or out of warranty.

bourst, my back up was an ios7 backup, so when i try to restore, it forces me to first upgrade to ios7 before i can restore.

thanx for your information. i think i will just shift to i5s in december, when my contract gets over and until then if apple comes with a fix, good for me.

They ran the same iPad diagnostic test on mine and came up negative.

I posted a couple of times about my 4S with the same issue with iOS 7 -wifi grayed out. Then I posted that it started working again. And it did for three days - long enough for me to go on a two week trip to Mexico. Now it is grayed out again and I cannot restore it doing any of the things I did before, and all of the things suggested on this discussion before that didn't work for me at all. I am now 1 month and two weeks over my "warranty". The problem started just after my warranty expired but I thought they might take pity on me and give me a replacement phone but I was worrried (rightly so it seems) that they might give me either a new 4S or a 5, but with iOS 7 and that it would crap out again. I didn't go to the Apple store after my wifi worked again (the store is 45 miles from my home). I will be going to the Apple store when I get back and I will be sure to give them a taste of my true feelings. I do not believe at this point that 1) Apple will fix the problem with a new iOS 7 release because it looks like it damages the phone and 2) Apple will solve my problem in any other way (with a new phone say) because they just don't seem to care. I am going to contact a well-known class action lawyer group to see if they would be interested in this situation. It has to be a problem for thousands of customers. Apple will never get a dime more of my money, nor any of my friends' money after they hear from me. Apple is going to regret this fiasco.
