Iphone 4s ios 7 battery issues

I posted this question in the basics forum, but it probably belongs here: Since installing iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s, the battery life seems to be significantly reduced, at least judging by how quickly my battery life percentage meter keeps dropping. I've gone through and turned off all sorts of settings, like location services on most everything, etc. Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue? Anyone know of any fixes?

Hello Again.

Im in the same position that CYB34, bought this pieace o concret yesterday.

Thought that might have not properly charged mine.

So naive.

Now fully understanding the process, can say, including myself, that "you moroons have to buy the 5".

In case of being misunderstood, what basiclly im saying is, we consumers are the low food chain of the business, and they will do everything to keep making money.

DjKevChase, i am sorry, but even not in your other life you will see some kind of treatment from Apple like that.

Did you read anywhere any excuse for what is append with our phones? i didn't.

Again, regreating making the supidest move from changing from android for this "thing".

Be well.

Sorry, CYB34 but I have to disagree. I work in a mobile phone shop selling phones of all stripes. I have a lot of iPhones out there and not all 4S units are in bad shape. It's true some are. I have a customer who's also a good friend and he upgraded to a 5s because he had no time for the nonsense he was going through after upgrading his 4S to iOS 7. But I also have half a dozen other 4 and 4S users in the building and NONE OF THEM have experienced anything but a marginal decrease in battery life which I have assumed to be the result of a more complex operating system that is taxing older hardware. I use a 4 in the shop; it's nearly three years old and I regularly have half a dozen apps open during the day. I have not switched off anything other than bluetooth and I typically plug in around ten at night with 30 - 50% battery left.

I do not believe this is a global problem; I have no idea why some units behave in this manner, and I agree with everyone who is mad at Apple because they have (yet again) stuck their head in the sand over this issue, but I think it premature to switch to another device or model out of frustration. There will be a fix. Just don't know when ...

I'm not sure you understand the problem. It's the software, not the hardware. ℹ

If you don't believe that this is a global problem, you should google some more "ios 7 battery drain" or "ios 7 battery life". Even better, Youtube "ios 7 vs ios 6 battery".

Do you want me to count the results for you?

All that is nonsense? Is all that happening in a small remote place in eastern Europe?

I have the iPhone 5 with the same issues, and have done everything possible except replace the battery or buy a 5s. Only a certain people I know that have the 5 have this battery problem. I would say 2 out of 10. I bought my 5 on launch day and a co worker got his 3 weeks latter and he has no problems with his 5. Before ios 7 I had great battery life, but now with a full charge in the morning will be depleted to 25% at 12 noon with average to no use. If I watch a 10min YouTube video with all ios 7 options on, my battery percentage will go down 17% and with everything off it will go down 16% a 1% difference. My conclusion is certain people (random) got a so called corrupted ios 7 software download my opinion apple did this on purpose so people will buy the latest tech. So the 4 4s and 5 have these battery issues.

Hello once more

Today i have replaced the iphone 4S, wich was bought tuesday, with another new piece out of the box equipment.

Since this morning and after being fully charged, the saga as begun, 34% left at the moment.

Must be a coincidence, i cannot see another reason for two diferent pieces of harware have the same problem.

Some say, they know somoene that has no problems with it, i say good for them.

Going to the store, as right now.

How do you know he has no problems with his?

He simply told you or have you tested both phones together?

I have seen no reports of a corrupted iOS 7 package.

There are alot of Apple haters out there digging for issues and they can't wait to find one. If there was indeed a corrupted installation, it would be public by now.

Just ask on the DEFCON forums...

yeah I got an iPhone 4s on ios7 and I got an ipod on ios 6.13... I can run my 64 gig ipod for 4 days non stop,,, I cant get 4 hours out of the iphone.... kind of pointless having a cell phone you gotta leave plugged in all the time....maybe I should try installing linux on it,, since the phone is useless now.... I probably won't ever buy another apple product again. Pretty pathetic when the open source stuff isn't released until it actually works... and here all the big boys just don't care.

2 different iPhone 5 the same 10min YouTube video both phones ios7 both phones set up with every option on both phones play the video at the same time on wifi. My iPhone dropped 18% battery and the other lost 1% now I haven't had apple test the battery, but I'm guessing it's going to be ok because my phone had no battery problems before ios7. And yes I'm saying apple randomly sent out bad ios7 software downloads so people would have to upgrade

most people who have apple stay with apple. . The update was sent out before the launch of the 5s and 5c and that means they are not affected with this issue.

Odd things are happening!!

As a 4s user, I too suffered with the battery drain after going IOS7. Done all of the usual and then hardbooted and saw an immediate improvement. Never as good as was with previous IOS versions, but not losing 10% in 10 mins etc.

Noticed over the last few days, performance has gone back to previous bad levels. Eg phone on charge all night, drove to work today with phone on charge, so at 9am battery was 100%. Battery was flat by 1am and not watched videos or played music. Just the odd check on FB etc. normally phone would last all day and it would be around 15-20% by 22.00

Took my charger from iPad to charge me phone and noted within a few mins iPad was quickly loosing charge. Lost 5# within 10mins and was not being used. Never seen that on an iPad. Within the same time frame, phone had already charged 20%??

Hard booted the iPad and it went back to 100%?

Don't care what any so called experts say with all older model devices, IOS 7 has issues. If it don't, then it had inbuilt bugs to force users to upgrade. I'm not saying it's the latter, but it's one

Or the other and I still have heard nothing from Apple. This much feedback and no response, says a lot in my book.

Nov 11, 2013 8:12 AM in response to Tigertone

I managed to isolate the issue on my iPhone 4S:

- Delete all email accounts

- Delete the iCould account

You can recover everything, this is for testing purposes only.

A few days ago my iPhone would go from 100% to 89% during the night (6-7 hours).

No open apps, Location disabled, no wi-fi, no push no nothing.

Now the battery goes from 100% to 99% during the night (6-7 hours).

5-6 open apps, Location enabled, Wi-fi enabled, animations enabled.

E-mail and iCould accounts deleted.

Anyone else can confirm this?

Thanks
