Iphone 4s ios 7 battery issues

I posted this question in the basics forum, but it probably belongs here: Since installing iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s, the battery life seems to be significantly reduced, at least judging by how quickly my battery life percentage meter keeps dropping. I've gone through and turned off all sorts of settings, like location services on most everything, etc. Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue? Anyone know of any fixes?

Mine was having terrible battery life too, dropping 10% or so an hour even during low to no use. I kept noticing that the location services icon arrow in the upper right of the screen would keep pooping up, even when I had no apps open. Through trial and error I narrowed it down to the Passbook app. Once I turned off Location Services for this app, my battery life has gone back to normal. It can be turned off at Settings --> Privacy --> Location Services --> Passbook.

Already done it, no luck.

Funny thing: locking and unlocking the phone for 4-5 times straight, just to see the graphical effect, heat up the phone and pull the battery down of 1%

As some other have written in early posts, the battery consumption is abnormal, sometimes jumps 5-7% down without a real hard task. Taking and watching photos is one of the most critical.

Hoping in a quick fix.

I suspect something is up with imessenger. My battery life and several friends seem to drop extremely fast if you are texting for a moderate period of time. e.g a 30 minute text chat drained my battery from 80% to 20% and the phone was very warm. Other friends have remarked that they only feel the phone heating up when messaging. It is very normal for all of us to text for that period of time or longer and in the past never felt the phone get warm or saw battery life drop like that. It is everyone I know who has upgraded to IOS7 who is experiencing this. I watched a 30 minute tv show on my phone and the battery barely dropped and the device did not heat up.

Any other use does not heat it up like messenger.

I have the same issue but on iPhone 5. A twelve minute video on YouTube will drain my battery 17%. With normal use starting at 8:00am 100% my battery will drain down to under 50% at 11:30am. That's just a few shot calls a few texts and checking my work schedule from time to time. My iPad seems to have normal battery life after ios 7 download. When I was downloading ios 7 on my Iphone 5 I got a error saying please retry, about 10 min in. I clicked on retry and it downloaded in about a minuet. I don't know if this had anything to do with this issue

Further update: I turned off almost all locations services, terminated applications. My phone just went from 28% reported charge to shutdown in 40 min. sitting in my pocket. After plugging it in, it immediately showed 34% charge. I've noticed that the reported discharge rate appears to accelerate: it takes considerably longer to go from 100% to 50%, than to go from 50% to 0%.

I still believe (without ultimate proof) that the problem is that the OS is reading the battery state incorrectly. Doing all the battery life tricks helps, but my phone is still lasting 1/3 as long as before the upgrade to IOS 7.

Okay everyone, I did just go ahead and do a backup and then a full restore from backup. It seems to be working very well. Unplugged and just hanging around, it still shows 100% charge after almost 1 hour. I did the restore tethered by turning of wifi syncing and turned on the encrypted backup to HD first. The encrypted backup allows itunes to store the passwords for various apps in the backup, which is nice. Then I backed up the phone to the computer. While I was waiting for the backup (which doesn't take long), I updated all of the apps in itunes on my computer. Then I downloaded the latest update. Then I clicked restore and allowed the backup to happen again. I had to turn off Find My iPhone temporarily and the apps took for ever to reload onto the phone because I have over 160 (and that's just a small portion of the apps we have ever downloaded). I really think this is working. Fingers crossed!

In addition, the free space almost doubled, which is an added bonus.
