Left it plugged in with the 10W charger (OEM) and it was charged after sitting for 8 hours.... Just didn't respond like before when first plugged in. Took an hour or so before it finally stated showing it was charging.
Ipad 4 died after IOs 7 update. It will not charge with OEM cable in wall or in PC USB port. I would love to try all the potential fixes mentioned here, but cannot get to start up screen......nice work Apple! never again. FIX THIS NOW!!
Ipad not charging after IOS7 Update. Tried everything suggested still nothing. Other iPads that have not updated do not have this problem and have tried using cable on other devices with no problems so its nota cable or charger problem.
Updated my ipad 2 this week to IOS 7 - now the ipad will not charge - tried reset no help - plugged into wall - no help changed charger - no help
Ditto... after IO7 upgrade Ipad mini won't charge via Belkin car charger (just bought last month @ Verizon -- and it's one that Apple sells too!). Was working fine before upgrade. The regular Apple plug in charger is still working tho. Heading over to Apple in a little bit to see if there's a fix.
Same here. I have an iPad 4 and I'm using the Lightning cable that came with the iPad and sometimes it charges, sometimes it doesn't. I had no problems when I was on iOS6 but as soon as I installed iOS7, charging is hit-or-miss.
My iPad takes much longer to charge, or does not charge at all ( this seems to be the case tonight), and does not hold the charge as long since the IOS 7 update. Right now it is plugged in and sitting at 2%. I would have never installed it if I had known. I paid a lot of money for this thing, so I am a bit peeved. I was going to purchase an iPhone, but I am reconsidering that idea now.
Hi
Im having the same issues. Managed a restore via itunes but still nothing. I just wondered if you managed to fix yours?
Turn the brightness down and it will charge
Thanks for your reply but i cant even turn it on as its stuck in constant reboot as battery is dead. no way to turn brightness down😕
Last week I reported that my iPad 4 was having this charging problem too but now I'm going to walk-it-back. I think a non-apple brand cable was the cause of my troubles.
The story goes like this. My wife bought me the iPad 4 last Christmas. She told me at the time that she bought it from Best Buy and got a good deal because somebody had returned it. It worked fine for me until iOS7 came out so I was happy.
Friday night I purchased a brand new, never opened, iPhone 5S and was surprised to see that the Lightning connector looked different than the one on my iPad. It fit differently too. The plug that came with my phone was a much tighter fit than the iPad cable. The Then it struck me. I bet whoever had the iPad before me returned it with a 3rd party Lightning cable rather than the Apple OEM cable. I simply never realized that I had a knock-off brand because I had never seen Apple's own Lightning cable in-the-flesh before.
So I bought an Apple brand replacement cable for the iPad that night and haven't had a problem since.
The other thing I'm wondering is if the transformer might be the culprit in some cases. My new iPhone 5S came with a nice looking, but physically smaller transformer than came with the iPad. I'm not sure but I think the iPad needs at least 10 watts to charge properly where the iPhone only needs 5 watts. Could it be that some of us who own both iPads and iPhones are trying to charge the iPad on the underpowered transformer? Again, this is just me guessing.
I am hearing that you need to deffinately be using an appl cord.....not a generic one,......I had a Griffen cord that was working great and I experienced this problem , logged in to this blog to see how to fix it....
....and a friend just handed me her apple cord, and it started charging WHEW!
Didn't work at all. My iPad is dead so when I try and turn it on it asks to be charged. And it never charges!
After upgrading to ios7 my iPad couldn't hold it's charge. 100% at night but in the morning down to 4%, even though it was closed!! I think that I've cracked it! I reduced the brightness from 50% to approximately 30%, and turned on lock/unlock. Left it fully charged last night, and this morning it was 99%. SUCCESS.
Hi I thought I was having a problem charging after installing the update. I tried everything suggested but the battery symbol didn't change like it used to so I just assumed it wasn't charging. I left it and came back 10 minutes later and realised the % battery had gone up it was then that I realised that the battery charging icon is different after the update, rather than being the battery with the symbol in it it is just a little lightening strike (probably not its proper name) to the right of the battery symbol. Also the iPad didn't vibrate or ping like it normally does when I charged it before the update. This may only be me but I thought it worth sharing as a possibility.
