It sounds like iOS 7 will no longer rapid charge with the 2.1A (10W) chargers but it will with the new 2.4A (12W) chargers. Apple, please restore the rapid charge!
Ok so my iPad hadn't been updated yet but most of my apps had when I began having the same charging issue this past Sunday. So before it died (was at 32%) I ran the update via wi-fi. Immediately after update I had no issues charging at all and was even able to charge with my rocket fish car charger. Then on Thursday afternoon after a full day of use I tried to charge and the not recognizing the original 10w charger that the IPad3 came with at all after it had worked fine all week. I'm beginning to wonder if an app that had updated prior to updating the iOS may be the coculprit to this dilemma.... All I know is this is very annoying....

I have tried with a clean install of iOS 7 with no apps other than what is included with the OS and still experienced the problem. Also tried by changing all the settings that affect power (brightness, reduce motion, background app refresh, etc) with the clean install. Those probably reduced power usage but did not fix the charging issue.
Read this, it might help: http://ipadnerds.com/battery-charging-very-slow-ios-7/
After reading through the comments it seems as though this is Apples's way of forcing us to buy their chargers and not third party ones. My husband just bought me a beautiful docking station that is useless because of the issues I'm having since i0S7. I think I will sell the iPad and get another tablet instead of caving to a monopoly.
The only solution I have is to turn off the ipad and then it will charge. I have gotten the new 12W charger and new cable and it did not fix the issue.
Anyone seen a difference when uploading 7.03. Trying that now. Hope it fixes the issue....
The new update 7.03 did not fix the issue with the charging. Getting a new 12W charger did not help. The only thing that seems to let it charge is to plug it in and turn it off.
Well the update didn't fix. Turning it off and plugging it in just makes it wake up and drain my battery..... This is ridiculous!!!!!!!
Unfortunatley you have to plug it in first and then turn it off. I agree ridiculous that this is not being addressed by apple and they claim to be proud of their products.....
I have 2 Ipad Gen3's. One has been upgraded to IOS7, the other has not. The upgraded one charges very slowly, the other is fine. Both use the 10w USB wall charger.
This is clearly an IOS7 problem which requires a fix.
I will now not order the Ipad Air as Apple do not seem at all interested in this issue, just robbing customers that have been loyal to them over the years."
I have a MacBook Pro, 2 IPads, 2 iPods, and an iPhone. I think I will be selling them off as I am clearly not a valued customer.
Very disappointed I've tried every option. So ****** at apple right now! I am selling this door stop of a tablet and my iphone and my iPod. Steve would be so proud.
Really annoyed about how fast battery charge drops as well.
With all apps closed and brightness down to 30% it drops 1% every 3 or 4 mins.
Apple this is rubbish - the info is spreading fast over the internet and WILL effect your sales!
I wonder if you are bothered, well you probably will be as the BBC are now interested.....
Same thing here. After the update to Ios7 I saw the battery slowly draining while " under charge".
I resettled the iPad ( simultaneously hold down the start up and reset buttons) and used the original cord and plug.
(I was using a different brand)
Finally it worked!!
I'm having a similar problem. I updated my ipad to i os 7 and went to update the bugs or whatever because my ipad said there was another update on the settings...did all that now the thing says plug the charger in and I did and its just sitting there with the stupid plug picture and the iTunes logo. Tried resetting a number of times by holding down the power and middle button...that did nothing...I am using all the equipment that came with my ipad...is there something I can do...I might take it to the Apple store cuz this is b.s!
