I updated to ios7 yesterday for my iphone 5. Since then then battery life has been cut in half. My phone normally last me through the day, approximatley 16 hrs. Since I have up dated to ios 7 my phone barely last 8 hrs. I disabled Apps Update, bluetooth, back ground refresh, and some location services. that di not help.
I've been reading around the web that I should do a fresh install. Would that help? Any advice would be appricated.

Backup & clean install. You can restore from a backup and if the problem continues restore as a new device
Exactly same problem here. Since iOS 7 update, my battery is only allowing one day of use, against two days with iOS 6.1.4.
Seems we are not alone...
Using Wifi and writing SMS seems to be very consuming.
As I stated in my previous posts, this typically refelects a bad install.
Backup and then restore the iOS.
I did a clean install with back up through iTunes and that did not work. Battery still drains at a rapid rate. Now I am doing a clean install as a "new phone". I will report back in a bit.
I've Noticed the cell phone signal keeps changing rapidly. I know a cell phone signal (or lack there of) will change battery life; however it goes from the normal 4G down to no service randomly, yet frequently. I have gone into my settings and turned off almost all of the background app refreshing (still feeds the purpose of background app refreshing).
My battery life is 44% and it's just 3 hours in...
There has to be a better way for some of us that don't have the ability to backup the phone!
Why don't you have the ability to backup your phone?
You should be backing up your phone periodically in case of a disaster.
You can backup using iTunes. If you do not have a computer, backup using iCloud.

Axeman, my laptop was stolen last Friday, and I know for a fact that my phone has way more than the 5GB that iCloud allows. Would hijack the work computer I'm on currently, but pretty sure that installing iTunes to back up my phone would be frowned upon!
The 5 GB free allowance does not include music or apps, only data. I have an almost full 64 GB phone and my total iCloud usage is ony 3.5 GB, including mail, contacts, calendar, notes and backups. And you can always buy more storage in iCloud; a lot cheaper than a laptop.

So, if i backup through iCloud, I lose all my music, since the majority of it was not purchased through iTunes, but ripped on the laptop that was stolen. I know the apps are still available through app store. And Lawrence, laptop must be replaced anyway...
I'm seeing the same solution for several other issues too...backup the phone and reinstall everything...shouldn't have to is all I'm saying
Unfortunately glitches happen. Servers were being slammed. Maybe downloads were corrupt due to heavy traffic.
That sometimes is the unfortunate side effect of updating same day.
