Wifi greyed out on iphone 4s with ios 7

So I finally found a trick to get it up and running again...for now. Turn off the phone and the turn it on again. Enter the pass code and leave it for about a minute before entering the pin. Not sure if it's just a fluke or how long wifi will stay connected for the moment, but at least it has at last connected for me again

only for update: on yesterday i tried to change the wifi antenna/bluetooth/buzzer piece (hoping that having still the wifi mac address the trouble is the antenna and not on the chip) but this has not solved the issue. on next days, if i can, i will try to replace the wifi chip and i will let u know.

Hi. I have the same problem. WIFI and bluetooth are grayed out and I can not turn them on. Hope that this is some software issue. I dont want to replace any hardware because I am out of warranty. I have iphone 4S 16GB with IOS7.

Has anyone heard about an estimated time table for this problem to be fixed. I was able to restore my 4s to get wifi working again once or approx. 30 minutes.

Apple does not believe that it is an issue with the iOS7 update and states that it is a hardware failure unrelated to update and that it was "ready to fail before the update and would have anyway in a few days." Those that are outside of their 12 month warrantee and that do not have AppleCare will have to pay to replace or repair the iPhone.

That is complete and utter BS. Apple, once again, have issued a dodgie update that messes with the phones and then have the nerve to turn around and say that its the phone? I am really getting tired of this crap. All I'll say is there was never this level of dissatisfaction when Steve Jobes (RIP) was at the helm. I am seriously considering taking a Small Claims Court action against them.

My is the same. Initially it was unable to connect to my home network, then i try to off the wifi (the button is still able to be switch). But after i off it, ibeocme grey and do not allow me to on again.

And if Apple said it is HW oroblem, then how come i am able to see the MAC address of Wi-Fi Address ??

I've had the same problem since updating to ios7 (greyed out wifi etc.).

I've been on Apple chat for over 2 hours and they are not prepared to fix (as out of warranty). I went to my cellular provider (Vodafone) who state that it is a known issue by Apple! They won't fix the phone for free even though it's a result of an ios update!

They've told me (on Apple Chat) that the ios update only highlighted the problem - the hardware was 'about' to fail in any case! Not sure how true that is!

Hi i have same expirience as loniepwith apple chat support. Solution is probably hardware repair and we have to pay. I try to obtain information about new wifi part with no luck. What if IOS7 blow up new wifi module same as old one?

Same situation here - I've updated the phone software to iOS 7 (I have 4S), it worked for couple of days and then it stopped working, it just greyed out, can't switch it on - Apple exchanged the phone and the wifi worked for 5days until I have installed update 7.0.2 and it stopped working again. I've restored the phone so many times, and nothing changed. So it's definitely not a hardware issue as it happened with a brand new phone as well.

Same here, it sounds like full BS from apple. WiFi and all functions has been perfectly well and my phone has been gently used generally and for sure from update to iOS7. WiFi started to loose connection to networks and refresh the list all the time then it got greyed out, came back for a short while then permanently beeing greyed out. Freezing the phone to make it work is a clear sign of HW failure. The fact that a lot of people experience the same problem shortly after iOS update on totally different ages of phones is also clearly pointing out iOS bug as the cause. Why does it take different time from update to malfunction, well, circuits are different, usage is different, for example in how warm environment is it used. Was phone used as GPS while charging and lots of apps running in a hot car, the phone most likely was extremly much warmer then a phone used minimally.

APPLE!!! Take care of this! We know you make huge margins and they must be used to sponsor misstakes that are caused by YOUR misstakes. Believe me I know my homework, I'm working in electronics business with embedded development and HW manufacturing and testing.

Apple needs to step up and do the right thing. Telling us our wifi was about to die anyway is total BS! Not only my wifi but my hotspot stopped working. It worked for one day and down it went.

step up apple and fix our phones...for free. You are the ones that killed them. Not one of us buys the wifi about to go crap.

Apple just let us downgrade to latest iOS6. Maybe this will solve the problem. Unless wifi module was totaly burn out.
