Wifi greyed out on iphone 4s with ios 7

Hi, I have iphone 4s, before when I update my ios to 6.1.3 I got a problem connecting to my wifi it was greyed out. I researched some tips how to solve the problem still it doesn't work. They said that if you update your ios into ios 7 the issue will be solved, however I update my ios now into ios 7, I still have the same issue, tried some troubleshooting again still problem doesn't solve, help please I cannot use my wifi. I just got my phone last year and I am having this problem, I love apple products but this is a big inconvenience to everyone who is having the same problem, help. Thanks.

Under EU wide consumer protection laws all items are covered for by 2 years warranty. It even states this on the Apple website http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/ .

However, here it states you must get redress from where you purchased the phone if over 1 year old (in your case O2). I've been passed from my service provider (Vodafone) and back to Apple numerous times with no-one willing to take responsibility!

It's a good wheeze these companies have going! Blame each other and the consumer is stuck in the middle!

it's the old hardware/software get out clause!

I've looked at the warranty link you attached; I'm not a legal expert but I think maybe the 2 year minimum and 6 years stated for the UK relate to the period in which you can make a claim; I don't hink it's a warranty period as such, you jus have 6 years in which you can bring a claim and go legal, which they know isn't worth doing!

since it would appear now that the ios7 update has caused a hardware issue, can the hardware issue be repaired; I've read a post saying that someone fixed it for little money but had to do a bit of surgery?

surely someone can fix? OR is the phone done in and downgraded to a bog standard phone?

I wonder how many users of 4s phones are actually affected??

Ok Someone needs to take responsibility for this fiasco! This is clearly not just the odd case of phone failure there are a lot of us with the same issue. So can I make a suggestion? What if we all cancell the payments to our phone service prodiver - Vodaphone, O2, Orange etc in the Uk and refuse to pay until it's sorted? Sure the product is not fit for purpose under UK law, why pay for a contact with data if we can't use it?

I agree with you, but I need my phone for business and not sure whether all us frustrated 4s users will make a big difference to the service providers!

I can't believe that this hasn't hit the media though?

I've been on to O2 anyway; they say it's a software issue; I said no it's definately hardware, it's a defect in the phone; he said, yes, caused by the software update, so it's a software issue!!

So I called Apple; they say you're out of warranty; I said yes I know but your software update caused the fault; he says, sorry but we can't do anything apar from booking an appointment at the Apple store and pay £150 service charge and they will repair it, or replace it.

now, I don't want to do that and then find there's a £30 common easy fix, then Apple will have had me for another £120 which will be very hard to swallow!!

Jowshuf; yeah, I had a fw posts removed and they also removed a few posts from others, one of which contacined a link to a site which was created to collect names and details of affected users so that the extent of the problem could be appreciated; the other was a link to a youtube video which I haven't had chance to watch as yet but I feel he was suggesting that all victims get together!

nothing siad was bad, rude, offensive etc. just things that Apple don't want to be happening!

hi, just to add that i am having same problem. i mean i am using iphone 4s and after installation of update 7.0.2 my phone worked fine for few days and then its wi-fi button greyed out. i used the freezer technique but it didn't worked for me. actually i could turn on/off it fow few minutes but it never sensed any network and kept searching. soon i will try the hair-dryer method. has someone noticed that apple has removed the 7.0.2 update from its website. i think they are going to do something better for this problem. fingers crossed!

An event like this would normally be called an epidemic product fail requireing immediate recall/fix in an ethicl company.

I have tried Apple support chat, it foze, no response.

I tried Apple support call back, it wont accept my valid phone number.

I tried one suggestion of resetting network settings, no good.

I tried reinstall of ios 7 as suggested, no good.

I would also like see Apple, solve this issue and proved support ASAP so I can use my iphone again which is now baically just an expensive paper weight.

I have same problem with my iPhone 4S with iOS7

I tried Apple solution, reset network settings and restore iPhone in iTunes with no luck. The only think that worked for me was: 1)Turn off iPhone, 2)Put it for 15 minutes in fridge (not freezer), 3)Turn on and inmediately do a reset network settings. The solution only lasts half hour and the wifi goes dead again. I have done the trick twice and it wored both times.

Since the wifi works after doing the trick maybe it is not a hardware problem because it starts to work perfectly.Or if it is a hardware problem it has to do with heat sensor misreading the temparute of the iPhone which never gets hot to a point it cannot be hold.

The problem started right after i upgraded to the latest version of iOS7 so there's a strong possibility is buggy software.
