On itunes 11.1, can you delete podcast episodes? All old episodes appear in the list, and right click/delete is not an option.

In iTunes 11.1, all podcasts episodes appear in the list.

I cannot delete any from the list - if I right click and choose delete, the episode is still in the list and shows it can be downloaded.

How do you delete an episode of a podcast in iTunes 11.1

I am so frustrated. I was on the phone with technical support from Apple for over an hour. She kept putting me on hold and asking other people how to solve the issue. She said I was the first person to call about the issue and she wasn't aware of it. That really surprised me.

What's the point of buying Apple Care if they can't solve problems? Maybe someone on this forum will have better luck if they call 1-800-MY-APPLE. Maybe if enough of us call they will realize that the iTunes users are very unhappy.

She didn't know if the Apple programers were aware of the problem. She told me to go to the Apple website and email them. I did that when I first got the 11.0 software and they emailed me back a useless answer that told me how to delete a podcast but didn't address the 2000 old podcasts that I already deleted and are now showing up in my list.

Even though I sent an email a couple of weeks ago I sent one today. Maybe if they hear from enough of their customers they'll fix the problem. I'm surprised I haven't seen more media coverage about the glitch. I only read one item on the Daily Kos website.

I downloaded the current version and it has indeed been fixed with 11.1.1 but I'm still amazed they didn't catch this before releasing 11.1. And having gone to an old version for awhile I find that I miss the old album view where the album covers would scroll across the top. Looked way cool. Now it just looks boring. Too bad new features have taken away cool views.

You think it's bad you can't delete them? You can't download them either. If you download some podcasts, you can see them downloading on the top of the iTunes screen, and if you look on your hard drive with Windows Explorer, you can see them appearing one-by-one. Great! But as soon as the last file finishes downloading, all the downloaded files disappear off your hard drive.

John, I had the same thing happening but I cleared my browser cache and the problem stopped. Now I use Firefox so it may not apply to you. And, I wouldn't think a browser cache would have anything to do with it. But it stopped them from dissapearing. iTunes fixed the glich with everything showing up as in the cloud. I downloaded the never version 11.1.1 and it is working now. I'm surprised they didn't catch that glaring problem before they released 11.1

I found a solution that seems to be working. When I'm done with a podcast I go to "get info" for that specific podcast and change the Media Kind from "podcast" to "music." That removes it from the Podcast list and puts it in the Music library and treats it as a regular song. Then search under genres in Music for "podcast" and locate it there. Then just delete it and its gone from iTunes. It's how I've been deleting my unwanted podcasts.

Hope this helps.
