Contacts disappeared after iOS 7 update

I just had this happen to me too! So scary, but I found the fix on a forum.

Just go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud account and make sure the button for contacts is green!

Apparently this is happening to quite a few people and multiple times. So just keep checking the settings if it happens again. I guess for some reason iCloud keeps unsyncing the contacts :/

it happened to me too.. twice and i didnt know, that they would appear after 10 mins, what i did is install them again from my back up file. funny thing is that, it happened exactly at same time today and yesterday. i really want a fix to this problem. but im trying what kat says hope it'd work!

I have had the same problem already. When I switched it over the first time it worked and now it's not. I have some 200 contacts and I don't know who is who. For now what still works is the search function. In the last version there's a glitch where if you delete a contact, they will still show up in a search. I using IOS7 with a 4s

Problem I have is 50% of them are GONE and what you suggest isn't the problem. It's also not a 10 minute timer or a time of day. I just plain lost 50% of my contacts. My droid friends are going to have a field day with me....

I am having the same problem! Yesterday they disappeared and after a couple hours they were back, Today the same thing! They are gone from my iphone 4s.. ***. Hope they wil come back soon.

Similar issue. As far as I can tell, my contacts are all sitting on the iCloud, but they won't sync. Even I've tried toggling the Contacts button under iCloud, and nothing. For now I'm reduced to using my MBP as an address book.

I saved an archive of my contacts just in case. You might want to do the same.

I think I may have found a fix. I reset my network settings and all of my iCloud contacts reappeared immediately. I was actually trying to solve a different issue with my Exchange email account. Go figure.

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You'll have to reenter all the passwords for Wifi networks. Hope this helps!

Of all the things I tried, your fix worked the best for me.

Tryt this:

Log into icloud.com and verify that all the contacts are there.

If 100% sure that all contacts are there, turn off Contacts in iCloud on phone and yes to remove them from the phone.

Turn back on contacts on phone and give it a bit to re-sync down to your phone.

After update my wife's 4s started losing her contacts we just turned the phone of and on again. Today my phone 4s did it for the first time a week later no contacts text messages had the numbers but no names. I turned the phone off and on again seams to have sorted it for now.

Same here! About half of my contacts gone. Nothing worked for me. Tried everything and now my mail is gone. Apple is on top now, but maybe not for long.

I found that my exchange server location was changed. I corrected it and now all is fine.

I have had the same problem. But mine have even disappeared from the iCloud now. They are in a backup on my computer, but whenever I restore it they are on my phone for 10 minutes then disappear. It is EXTREMLY frustrating!!! I am completely stumped as to what to do...
