Contacts disappeared after iOS 7 update

Yay! Thank you gwlyons!!! This worked for me too!!! Wow...pretty much over 10 years of contacts (because I've always been able to switch my contacts over via my sim card before getting the iPhone)...so glad I didn't lose them all for good!!!

One of two things worked for me - resetting network settings or reboot of phone as reset of network settings rebooted phone also - anyway contacts are back (as well as notes whihc had vanished as well) - cheers

Thank you NessleeQ, this also worked for me, but it took me about 8 times of switching on and off until I got them all back. But my problem is, I did this a couple of days ago, it worked, and today it happened again. I tried so many times last time, that today I didn't remember where had I found the solution and what it was exactly. You usually need your contacts immediately when you are in the middle of something, you don't always have the time to do this procedure every time, even if it seems simple. I don't think this video is far from the truth http://vimeo.com/79695097 I have a 4S, my wife has a 5 and she hasn't had this problem, every time I'm on the third to last version I start having issues with my iPhone.

This is the biggest reson im going to buy myself a lg g2 tomorrow. Im fed up whit all the issues that apple has....

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago and I followed the instructions on this post and it worked for me. Today, I was looking for my physician's contact info and it is missing!!! I followed every step and it is still not back.

I was going to get the new iPhone 5c, but now I am in the market for something better. It's a shame too, since I have had the iPhone since its inception. Steve Jobs must be rolling around in his grave!

I am in the same boat, contacts disappeared then came back, then disappeared last week from my iPad and yesterday from my phone, tried all the tips and nothing. Also my calendar emptied itself. I have placed way to much trust in iCloud & apple. For some reason the few contacts I entered in the last week are still there?

You can extract your contacts from the iTunes backup when you lost your iPhone. iTunes can automatically back up iPhone contacts and update it every time when you sync it. So you really have a big chance to recover contacts from iTunes backup.
If you don't synced, you can directly scan and recover deleted contacts from your iPhone.

My iPhone 4S started wiping my contacts and bringing them back again but without the associated pictures and ring tones.

I thought this was a problem with the phone so upgraded to the iPhone 5S, then the problem started happening on the new phone.

I have tried every fix that has been suggested on here and i thank everyone for their suggestions but they are only temporary.

Does anyone have a perminant fix?

After two days of trouble and endless efforts to repair my contacts list, since the search function was working incorrectly, I came across your advise. It was soooooooooooooooooooo helpfull! it was a miracle! suddenly all my troubles were gone.

Unfortunately this doesn't represent a solution. I found what really make contacts disappear and that is caused by some not well programmed/updated Apps. I had to uninstall Infinity Blade 2 and Pro Camera. Both for me caused the problem and now it's one month that everything works fine as it should be.

So there are some not well updated Apps that maybe interfere with the new system, find what are you using and what can maybe cause the problem.

Nothing bad with iOs 7, in my opinion the best upgrade since iOs 3.0.
