Pioneer car stereo and iOS 7?

I recently purchased a Pioneer car stereo so that I could play music from my iPod Touch 5G. (My stock stereo did not have a conntection). I uploaded the new iOS 7 and plugged it in the morning on the way to work and there was an error on the car stereo. Then the iPod said (this is not a compatible device). Obviously it is the new OS that caused this. What can I do? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not tell me that I have to contact Pioneer to rectify the issue. THANK YOU!!

Just did some testing with my Kenwood:

Playlists -> select a playlist -> play a song - no issues

Albums -> select an album -> play a song - iPhone loses its place upon plugging or unplugging

Artists -> select an album -> play a song - loses its place

Artists -> play a song -> select album from upper right of Now Playing -> play a song - loses its place

Songs -> play a song - no issues

I mentioned above that it seemed to be working, but I never play via "Songs", and I'm nearly certain I wasn't playing a playlist, so I'm not sure why it worked that time.

I have the same issue with my Pioneer deh 4500Bt. Issue started when I upgraded my iphone4s to ios7.2. I could not choose or play the next songs using the headunit's controls anymore. Same issue observed using the usb cable or using bluetooth. I had to control the music using the iphone's controls. apple needs to fix this. Not safe for driving. :(

Well, I spoke too soon. Tonight I got in the car and when I plugged in it started playing what was already in Now Playing, but when I unplugged it after driving around for a while Now Playing got reset, and now it always clears when connecting or disconnecting from the stereo (except when playing a playlist, which still works as above). So whatever happened with the 7.0.3 update was just temporary.

I actually thought this had been fixed by 7.0.3, it had become less common, but it's now happening with more regularity since 7.0.4 was installed.

In fact I would go as far as saying you don't even need to plug it into your car stereo any more, a couple of days ago I pressed play from the lock screen to see what was playing before I even walked out of the house to the car to find it had already gone into shuffle mode.

Hello everyone, thanks for your contributions but my experience is worse.I had an I phone 3GS that was on ios 6 that used to connect with my DEH-4500BT pioneer car kit.I lost that phone and I got an I phone 4 that is now running on the latest ios I think it is 7.0.4.I went to apple in Manchester Andale but they told me that everything is ok with them and my car kit seems to have a problem.

This is what happens,I turn on my bluetooth on my phone and when I try to connect with the car kit,I get this message on the phone"pairing with DEH-4500BT unsuccessful".

Can someone please help?????????????????

Had another, strange issue. With wither 7.0.2 or 7.0.3 (can't remember) my iPhone would not respond to the rewind track button on either the stereo or the wheel. When I tried to control the tracks directly on the phone, this also failed to work. After resetting the device, it worked.

Given I have the same stereo with an iPhone 4 its updates, and iPhone 5 though iOS 6 with no problems, it rather puts paid to Apple suggestions that the stereo is solely to blame.

Great news!! Changing the music setting to "show all music" has solved my problem! Now, when I unplug from the USB port on my Kenwood stereo, the now playing list does not go blank, and plugging back in picks up where I left off. Thanks so much for posting this!

It still feels to me like a bug that Apple should fix since the Show All feature is irritating. But at least we have a workaround for the meantime.

So, things had been working fine for me, but the other day I rebooted my phone and I started having problems again. As with before, playlists worked fine, but playing from the Artist view resulted in Now Playing resetting when plugging and unplugging. I normally keep repeat turned on, and for some reason thought I would try turning that off and back on. And now it works again.

So, it looks like there are still bugs, but turning repeat off and on may be something to try.

Ok, so i think Apple had this fixed in 7.0.3 but broke it again in 7.0.4. How do I know this?

Well, I have my iPhone 4S which has been through each upgrade and for a while it seemed to work ok (this was in my own car with the Pioneer stereo). While on vacation I used it in the fitted radio in the rental car via USB (it was a new Dodge Voyager) and had the same issues.

Cue my new iPhone 5S... I buy it, restore from iCloud and music in the rental car seems to be ok but then I notice it's on 7.0.3 and needs to be updated. So, I do the update and the problem re-appears. Same when I get home and plug it for the first time into my own car.

Somebody at Apple isn't keeping their eye on the ball with the bug fixes!

This morning, Apple announced the release of 7.1. I upgraded my iPhone 4s. Then, I went out to my vehicle and plugged it into my Pioneer deck via USB. My music DID NOT start playing the first alphabetical song in my list. It chose a random song. Then, I unplugged the cable. The iPhone music screen shifted from Now Playing, back to the aphabetical list. I plugged it back in. The first alphabetic track did not play, but neither did the song I had interrupted. It played another random track. I unplugged again. Same behavior. New random track, not the same song I'd stopped.

So...

I find this to be an improvement, as I'm no longer being assaulted by the same song every time I stop my car. But only a MARGINAL improvement, as I'd really like to continue listening to what I'd been listening to when I stopped the car.

Please keep working on this Apple.

I just posted this in another thread:

It appears there may be (or have been) two similar, but not necessarily related, issues:

1) Plugging or unplugging via USB could (would?) clear whatever was in Now Playing in the Music app, causing the first song in your library to start playing. This was an issue in some cases (playing from Artist view) but not others (playing a playlist). Since 7.1 this hasn't been an issue for me.

2) When playing audio/video in another app (I've verified with Safari and Chrome; not sure about others), that app never gets cleared out of the global player, even after it is done playing and/or the app is closed. For an example, if you play a YouTube video in Chrome, then close the page and quit Chrome, "Chrome" is still displayed in the global player in the Control Center. Hitting play there won't do anything. However, it seems that when you plug in via USB, it really wants to start playing *something*, so it starts playing the start of your library. What's interesting, though, is that until you do so, Now Playing in the Music app isn't affected. That is, while the Control Center will just say "Chrome", Now Playing in the music app will show whatever had been playing before, and if you press play there before plugging in again via USB, playback will resume where it should. It seems like in theory this could affect playback other than USB, but so far, in my experience, trying to play via Bluetooth or hitting play (either in the Control Center or via the headphone remote) doesn't result in anything happening. That is, playback doesn't actually start.
