Pioneer car stereo and iOS 7?

I recently purchased a Pioneer car stereo so that I could play music from my iPod Touch 5G. (My stock stereo did not have a conntection). I uploaded the new iOS 7 and plugged it in the morning on the way to work and there was an error on the car stereo. Then the iPod said (this is not a compatible device). Obviously it is the new OS that caused this. What can I do? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not tell me that I have to contact Pioneer to rectify the issue. THANK YOU!!

- First reset the car system, and reset the iPod,

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Contact Pioneer. Maybe there is firmware update for the car system

- Unsync all music and resync

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem then the iOS update broke compatibility. That happens sometimes. You will have to wait for a iOS update or a firmware update to the car system

Weird...since I posted above that it wasn't working with 7.0.3, it's been working fine for me with 7.0.3 and 7.0.4.

I haven't tried this, but this was posted in another thread:

"Try to go to settings>general>reset>reset all settings. I did not lose any music or anything (it did change my background to default or something and I have to go back and put a lock on my ipod). Once I did that I ran to my car and tested it and so far it works!! I can now just plug up my ipod and my music will start where it left off like it used to... Hope it works for you!"

"Thanks to you and others that resetting all settings worked. Having once already completely wiped my iPhone for another reason around 7.0.1 or 7.0.2, I was not thrilled with the idea of re doing all those settings again (and perhaps finding out it didn't work for me). So I wondered if there were just a few settings related to music that actually needed resetting. So I tried rebooting the phone, rebooting just the music app, and changing some some settings. finally I turned "Show All Music" within the music app settings back on. It worked! I turned "show all music" back off and the problem returned. Turned it back on and it worked again. So try that before resetting all."

Mine is mostly working... What is getting annoying is that if I'm listening to something during a drive, Leave the car then come back later my iPhone goes into shuffle mode and I can't seem to fix this unless I use BT audio all the time (not what I really want since the sync cable keeps the phone charged too).

This would not be so annoying except that just 2 months ago I paid out for a new Pioneer radio with Bluetooth integration because I'd given up waiting for Apple or Nokia to fix the post iOS 3 incompatibility with my old Bluetooth kit.

I just can't catch a break!

I am having a related problem with my Kenwood deck and iPhone 5. I can't remember if this started after updating to iOS 7, or the 7.02 patch that I got last week. Every time I plug the phone into the USB port OR switch the input to the USB/iPod, the music restarts to the first song alphabetically in my all songs list, rather than picking up what had been playing at the time.

The Kenwood had given me various issues in the past, but had worked really well with iOS 6 as long as I used the "hands-on" mode that lets me control music with the iPhone itself, rather than the head unit. Now, it's worse than ever. Oddly enough, I have no problems when using Pandora or Podcasts - it picks up right where it left off.

I will try lllass's hard restart and let you know if that works. Thanks!

Nope - no luck. I even tried un-syncing and re-syncing all of my songs, and it still doesn't work.

I really feel this is an iOS problem - I noticed that when I take the phone out of the USB/lightning cable that's connected to my radio, sometimes the "now playing" on the music app goes blank. So clearly when you disconnect the USB, the app decides that it's not going to pick off where you left off. What is especially weird is that Podcasts and Pandora both work perfectly fine.

I posted this as a bug on their feedback site - maybe we will get lucky and they will take it seriously.

I just got off the phone with Apple support. Long story, but they are going to submit information to the engineers. Whether anything will come of that is unclear, although they said they (support) would be in contact with me.

I would urge everyone here who is having an issue with USB and iOS 7 to contact Apple Support and spell out exactly what is happening, and insist that others are having the same issue and that the engineers should look into the issue (if they haven't already). Give them the model of your car stereo, when it is happening (plugging in, unplugging, turning the stereo on, turning the stereo off, etc), and mention this thread. Hopefully it will help if they see this is not an isolated issue.

For the record, I had *no* issues like this with iOS 6, regardless of what mode the car stereo was in. And still no issues with Bluetooth. Although, as I pointed out, even if I'm connected with Bluetooth, if I'm also plugged in via USB and I unplug the USB cable, Now Playing goes blank.

But yeah...call and don't let them off the hook until they offer to look into it more.

FWIW, as I was on the phone with Apple and for a while after I got off, I was trying all sorts of things. Unplugging and plugging in when the stereo was off, when it was on, switching outputs on the iPhone, turning Bluetooth on and off, etc. *Something* during all of that apparently resolved the issue, as now I can once again connect and disconnect with USB and retain my place. I wish I had a clue exactly what did it, but it certainly seems that something in that process got iOS to start behaving correctly again.

That definitely seems to contradict Apple's claim that it's a firmware issue with the car stereo.

I have two Kenwood stereos and I was able to figure out when the problem occurs.

If you are playing songs by artist, the above behavior occurs. This has to do with the way Apple structured the albums in iOS7, where the albums are not by themselves anymore but all lumped together in a row for each artist.

When playing a playlist, this does not occur and the songs resume where they left off. Occasionally a song will restart from the beginning but most often it works fine.

So, I created a few new playlists to get around this new "feature" for now.
