the iPhone could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorised for purchased items that are on this iPhone
iPhone 5, iOS 7, itunes 11.1 for mac
iPhone 5, iOS 7, itunes 11.1 for mac
For me, this was because I enabled family sharing and grabbed some of the apps my wife had purchased, but didn't have both accounts authorized for the computer that was syncing. After authorizing her apple ID everything worked fine.
Had this same problem for 2 weeks now, tried every single solution posted anywhere on the web and nothing working.. and then by pure chance I just solved it now with a simple and really fast fix
MY SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:
1- i ticked the box for MANUALLY MANAGE MUSIC & VIDEOS,
2- then clicked apply, and sync (of course it returned the usual authorisation error at that point)
3- then I again unchecked the box for manually manage music, clicked apply, and sync.
And it immediately started working perfectly again.
hope this solution can help anyone else still facing this infuriating 3 year old unsolved apple problem 🙂
The problem is caused by the iPhone having apps on it associated with another iTunes Store account. I just activated my son's phone to use with my telephone number, and I was getting the iPhone could not be synced error. I signed out of my iTunes Store account and signed in with his iTunes account, and it then allowed the sync.
**** it worked! thaaaanks! 🙂
All of the above didn't work for me. Main takeaway is: Someone else, possibly unbeknownst to you, has signed in a purchased something on your iPhone.
My story may help you remember who that intruder might be:
This error message was weird for me, b/c I KNOW this computer is auth'd, I used it for years with my old iPhone 4; doubly weird b/c this is a new iPhone5S I'm trying to sync with iTunes, there's nothing of mine ON IT yet, save for Contacts and a couple photos the AT&T sales guy sync'd from my old iPhone 4 via iCloud.
So I exit out of that error window, go to iTunes/Store/Authorize This Computer, but of course it’s already auth’d and tells me so. So that’s not it. Try again. Same thing. I quit and restart iTunes. Same thing. Tried Quitting, restarting MacBookPro and iPhone5, nothing.
Called Apple tech Suppt after 10-15 minutes on hold had a fellow who worked with me for twenty minutes or so---we got closer, but we couldn’t crack it. Finally my case is elevated to a senior Apple Specialist (after a 20 min wait on hold), who suggests I delete the “My AT&T” app that was downloaded by the aforementioned sales guy at the AT&T store, which was needed to change my plan. Apparently he signed into iTunes on my new, virgin iPhone5 with his (or the store’s) Apple ID---the cad!---which caused the confusion. He should've had me sign in to my iTunes account to do that. I'm going back there to inform him of his error, which consumed hours of others lives.
So that’s the “purchased item” on my iPhone that my computer was not authorized for.
It most surely seems that your iPhone is used by someone else (or some other account) to make a purchase. It worked for me when I synced all accounts which had once accessed my iPhone. Worked fine and apps are installed. Hope Apple comes with something more meaningful than this.
Cheers!
Hey all,
I figured this out....John's tip does work to Apply, thanks John..
Now to get your Sync working again, I did this:
1. Try to backup your phone and it will show you which apps could not be backed up.
2. See the details to know which apps are causing the issues.
3. It turns out that I had some older apps that were not authorized properly.
4. Since I didn't use these 4 apps often, I deleted them from my phone
5. I was then able to Sync again
Hope this helps.
Tim.
Why didn't I think of this! Cheers man! I felt like giving up on this because it's been weeks since I can't get my new music on to iPhone.
My resolution was based on figuring out that a particular app on my phone was unauthorized. For some reason, guy at the ATT store insisted on adding 'my ATT' app. Turns out this was the problem, as iTunes would not transfer this from the phone to the computer, and stopped the sync process every time. Once I deleted this app from my phone, the sync went through
I got the same issue but i able to solve it.
My iphone and my wife's iphone is sync in one computer with different account. So, we have different apps and music depends on our preference.
Solution:
I authorized the two account (Email Add) in that computer, its because itune is detecting that there are apps that it not purchase by my account only.
And does it..i able to sync now my apps.
Too anyone having this problem recently, then your problem might be as a result from downloading a cracked app, on a none jail broken device, such as playbox hd, i had playbox hd installed and i couldn't sync as the account wasn't authorized so i had to delete the app and now it syncs perfectly fine, i tried everyone else's advice before doing this but that didn't work so I've came to the conclusion that the installation of the cracked app was the cause, i haven't found an alternative solution other than this one at the moment, so unfortunately you're going to have to remove the app sorry:(
Thanks a million!!! I've been trying to figure out why it wasn't working and this took care of it for me.
Problem Cause:- If one of the accounts has been changed and synced even once with your PC this problem may arise.
THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE THE APPLICATION.
1) Deauthorize your computer first in your PC
2) Sign out from "Itunes & app store" in your iphone as well as sign out from your PC
3) Disconnect your phone from PC if connected this is important.
3) Sign in from same accounts from both your devices.
4) Authorize your computer.
5) Now connect the mobile
6) Click on Trust your mobile if asked.
7) The changes you are trying to make previously should be automatically synced now.
Hope this helped. 🙂
I just purchased a new iPhone 6. My problem was fixed by deleting all the deletable apps that came with the new phone. After that it worked.
I download apps from itunes and use copy trans to install them. Works fine 🙂
