can't update says not connected to internet

I have had this occur on an iphone and ipad. I believe the issue arises when you do the upgrade download from one access point and then attempt to validate the download and install from a different location and access point. This is just a theory, but I think the download validation tries to use the ip address used during the orginal download, but not sure. Try to remember where you were when you attempted the first download (or usually the access point/location that you use most), go there and then attempt the validation and installation.

Ive only ever used this access point ( my own home router!)

Last week I was able to update through a public internet access point that used the same ISP and router that I have. I recently noticed a new update 7.0.2 and could not update at home, however today it just went through. I guess it might be one of those weird computer issue that just fixes itself.

burry02 - that worded for me! 3G allowed the download. Now how do I fix this for my iMac and for all the rest of my updates and apps? I don't have the kind of data allowance I need to download all that stuff. I have seen MANY posts in other forums about this issue and the inability to download apps after updating. I think Mavericks may have changed my setting for my rounter, etc.... Is that possible and how would i fix it?

I recently turned off - or tried to turn off - iCloud because I was able to get apps loaded to Cloud, but then not from Cloud to iMac or Cloud to iPad Mini...

Could this be a Cloud issue?

I really don't have the bandwidth where I live to upload EVERYTHING to a Cloud.

Why dont u try this first press both same time home and power button until apple logo come up and then release it,if doesnt work then next ur router......take off both cables internet and power on the back of ur router and then put back after 15 secs or more.

None of these answers have helped so far. I support iPads at work so I and colleagues have tried from multiple locations and on multiple devices, Which leads me to believe the issue is on apple's side.

When I say multiple devices I mean approx 6-7 iPads 2 and 3rd gen as well as several iPhone 5's.

I have had the same issue on my new ipad mini, i tried everything in these threads and finally after going into the VPN settings and chaging it from turning automatically to turning on when i ask, it FINALLY installed!

First swipe from the bottom of the IPAD up to open up the menu where you can turn on Wi-Fi, Airdrop, Bluetooth, away setting (half-moon), brightness control, etc. Turn off Airdrop and Bluetooth and the update should proceed on the next time you attempt it. Not sure why this is the case, but it worked for me. I suspect there is an error in the code that executes updates and tries to use connections that are turned on, but not able to reach the internet. So Bluetooth and Airdrop does not reach the internet, but if the update code is checking those connections ahead of a Wi-Fi connection it would fail. Just me, but that’s seems to be the problem based on my issue resolution.

Hello I had this but finally sussed it out, if you go into settings and then mobile data then flick down the list to safari and activate it, it should work, took me months that.

I Got the solution! TRUST ME!

Step 1:

go to settings --> General

scroll down all the way to RESET

Click it then chose --> Reset Network Settings

then click the thing in RED color (which means you confirmed it)

BE AWARE!!! if you do this you will have to re-enter your wifi password so make you remember it!

SO...

now iPad will restart

Step 2:

connect to wifi --> enter password

go to general and then software update and re-update!

congratulations! The process takes only 3 minutes without the need to go to an Apple Store!

this error happens usually when you have skipped an update!

NNone of these suggestions worked for me. Not even the "trust me" one. My power level on my iPad Air is at 27% and charging. I think when it gets enough of a battery level the update will work..

Tried that too. Still no joy. I think Apple screwed up their update. Maybe the next one will work.

I deleted the update so it had to download again and that worked.

How do I delete the update? I am getting the same error and am definitely connected to the Internet.
