iTunes 11.1 problem: no sound when watching movies!

I am having the same issue. Macbook Pro 17" hooked up to my Thunderbolt display (27 inch). The video works fine on fullscreen...just no audio. Worked fine on the last iTunes version...not anymore. Apple, please fix this soon.

I have the same issue. I am only using the 27" iMac, no Thunderbolt connection, but I cannot hear anything when viewing fullscreen.

Since iTunes 11.1 no Audio looking Videos in iTunes via Apple Cinema Display 24" in fullscreen. No problems via Display MacBook Pro.

System-log: Error in system-log: iTunes: AUHAL::AUIOProc: mono buffer too small (4096 > 512)

After changing audio-language (if available) audio-output okay. Same problem looking iTunes-Festival vids via itunes on 24" display.

Same problem here-upgrading phone to ios7 required updating iTunes to 11.1, now no audio when viewing video full screen. New mac mini to 27" external screen.

Same here. Updated to iTunes 11.1, and now no audio when playing video fullscreen from my MacBook Air to my 24" Cinema Display (over Thunderbolt port). When first launching the video fullscreen, you can hear about 1/2 second of audio, then it quits and the video continues playing without audio.

Same problem here: updated to 11.1 and no sound in video fullscreen. In prevous version everything was fine. It does not seems to have a connection with used hardware. Seems to be a nasty bug... hope it will be fixed fast.

Did you have to do anything else? What else did you have to do?

Same issue here, go to fullscreen in iTunes 11.1 (126) and USB audio then cuts out. USB audio fine before fullscreen. No issue with DisplayPort to HDMI audio or internal speakers or Bluetooth audio.

Same here, Mac mini with Thunderbolt Display, thing is when watching a movie from the cloud via iTunes Store it works fine full screen, QuickTime player full screen is also fine, but iTunes 11.1 from library = no sound full screen via 27" Thunderbolt Display ( internal speakers work though full screen!!!) this needs fixing ASAP

I am able to make the sound work by pausing/starting the video 3 or 4 times whilst in full screen mode.

Yes. Thank you! 3 times seems to do the trick (pause/play). Shouldn't be necessary but at least there a workaround.

Same issue here on 2008 MacPro 3,1 with Apple Cinema Display 27.

I think I just found a solution. I'll explain what I did but you may not need to do some of the steps that I did.

First, I downloaded an older version of iTunes.

Then, I backed up my older library from the "previous" folder.

I used terminal to remove the iTunes (11) application using the rm -fr iTunes.app

Then I was able to install the previews version of iTunes that i had downloaded.

For me, this older version didn't work. It gave me an error -42408 when I launched it and it wouldn't play my rental anyway. Too HD perhaps?

So, I went into software update in the App store and upgrade to iTunes 11 again.

I rebooted, played the movie and went full screen... SOUND!

Something in that procedure makes sense. I'm just not sure what. I hope it helps. 🙂

I have the same audio problem after the Itunes 11.1 update running on ML 10.8.5. Mine is a little different as I have the HDMI connection to my receiver, then output to my TV. I can get a brief output of sound of about 1 sec. then nothing. The audio output signal from the HDMI is only effected. I can get audio output through the built in speaker. This issue effects all audio through the HDMI not just audio from Itunes but from any app.

I tried to restore the previous version of Itunes through TimeCapsule but it would not allow it.

My work around is to use one of my apple tv boxes. I switch on air play in Itunes and tell it to play to the apple tv (the apple tv is also attached to the same receiver). The audio goes from the Mac mini, to apple tv, and finally to the receiver. But this will not work for any other app that does not have the airplay feature. I hope this is a bug and not some copyright lawyer b.s.
