I really have no idea what is going on here. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THESE SEEMLESS APPLE OVER THE AIR UPDATES!!

Instead my AppleTV is now bricked like it is for many other users. What is so intuitive about plugging my AppleTV into iTunes? What does this even mean? Am I supposed to plug it into my iMac? And reboot or something? Am I supposed to plug in my AppleTV to one of my iOS devices?

VERY FRUSTRATING??

ok so got cable, hooked up to itunes..itunes recognized and went into recovery mode; applied the latest updates to AT3 and hooked it back up to tv when itunes was finished. got it back onto my wireless network. all works now. didnt have to hold menu and pause/play buttons or anything. it was a clean install of 6.0

Now that wasn't so hard, was it?

My attempt to update to 6.0 bricked me too. I was very happy to see this thread, as I'd completely forgotten the ATV had a micro USB port tucked away beneath the HDMI port. The ports are too close together for me to use USB and HDMI at the same time -- is this the case for everybody, or are my plugs just fatter than necessary?

In any event, by unplugging my HDMI cable I was able to connect the USB to my MacBook, which launched iTunes and after a few prompts restored my ATV to working order. HOWEVER, the restoration took it to 5.3, not the 6.0 I was hoping for.
