was in process of updating to new software (6.0) on apple tv when it restarted several times and came to cable connect to itunes screen. tried resetting but when back to connect to itunes screen. is there another way without cable to reset or am i up ***** creek until i order a cable
Final note: Apple Support asked me to take it in for service (to a local authorized service agent). They agreed that the 6.0 update fried mine.
Luckily, I have my Gen 2....
Advice: wait to update.
Agree with a previous post. Do not use a Belkin micro usb cable. They do not work. Just bought a new Belkin micro usb as both my apple tv's were bricked by the latest update. Tried connecting to itunes on several computers with the newly bought belkin micro usb but not luck. Also went to a neighbour and borrowed their "not belkin" micro usb and the itunes recognised it immediately and now is restoring.
So as already posted.... DO NOT BUY A BELKIN MICRO USB CABLE!!
Same thing happened to me and iTunes wouldn't pull up my Appletv. I was using the USB power cord from my google chromecast, decided to try a different USB and boom. iTunes saw it. Restoring now. So try different cables some must be for just power as others are for power and data. Or....apple hates google that much(:
