ios 7 iphone 5 itunes 11.1 ringtones won't sync

Hi, i've been trying to just drag and drop a new ringtone into the tones folder- haven't seemingly had the other problems in this thread. I tried the deleting of the tones bit and resynched etc. I was able then to drag and drop the ORIGINAL tones that were there- it would not take in the single new tone (MP3- which has always worked before). So I just converted to M4r and it went in.....guess i'm an idiot.

I am not very computer literate. I followed your steps but how do I upload the tones back from iTunes? I deleted them and have no idea where they went.....

Your tones, if home made would have to be in a folder somewhere on your computer, or if purchased would probably be in an apple folder named itunes i think in your music folder... I'm no expert either.

Thank you. I found the folder, duplicated the tones and moved them back to tones. Then I synced phone and it worked!! Your advice was great!

I tried this twice and it won't work for me

Here's what I did that finally worked: right click on each ringtone, select "get info" then fill in the blank space under "track number" so that all the tones' track number reads "1 of 1." Previously, all of them had "1 of", leaving the second space blank.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Download the iTools application. It works way better than iTunes and is more user friendly! This is the only thing that resolved this issue. You can download it for free here: http://download.cnet.com/iTools/3000-2248_4-75629761.html?tag=mncol;1

And the best app for ringtone downloads is called Ringtones 500.000+ in the app store. You can email the ringtone to yourself, save it to your desktop and import it to iTools. It's so easy!!!

Looks like the problem was that iTunes had them in the 'Ringtones' folder but should be in the 'Tones' folder, removing then reimporting in iTunes, as suggested by andigital, solves that problem by moving them to the correct folder.

I've been trying different methods for 4 days to get my tones back on my iPad and this was the one thing that worked!

Makes for a bit of a facepalm moment because it's so incredibly SIMPLE, but alas - I'm just happy it worked!
