With respect, I agree that the manner in which the update list appears to function has not, to date, created a known problem beyond its visual nuisance. It is for me, undesirable functionality and if it's not a bug, then I will be requesting that Apple consider changing its functionality. I have a ticket open with Applecare and I'm awaiting an explanation of what exactly this behavior is, something I just don't like or something that is malfunctioning. When I do, I'll post the result.

Until then, it's all 😎 !

Thank you for posting this question. I had the exact same concern. My updates stay in the Updates section and it's annoying. Once it downloads it should clear out. My question is...what happens if the app has another update? Will that move to the top or will I have to scroll down to where the app is? There is no reason it should stay for a day, week, month, etc. Serves no purpose. Another thing it does is if you search for an app in the upper right hand corner...that same search name stays there forever..even after touching the "x" button. I think there is a flaw/bug in this entire update section.

Go to Settings/General/Date & Time/Turn Automactically Off. Then set your date into the future (I did like 6 mos) then Open App Store and it will clear out all the updated apps. Then go back and turn back on Date & Time Auto Update.

Note* I have not had the time to figure out the magic time span that has to past before the app updates clear themselves from the list. Perhaps someone can test that and post back, or I will when I have more time.

😎 GREAT IDEA!!! KUDOS! 😎
Ok so i did what you said and first i went forward in time about 11 days (Oct 7) to a random date and the list was still there. THEN i went forward 3 weeks exactly and VOILA! that annoying list is GONE!

SO its somewhere between 2-3 weeks...im guessing 2 weeks

but once the list is gone you kant keep trying.

so maybe someone else has tried 2 weeks exactly.

😀 THANKS soooo much for this suggestion!!!! 😀

😝Ill take it for now til they FIX it...😉

That is just stupid to have to go in and change your date forward and then back. So are you going to keep doing this everytime there is an app update?

Needless to say...I went into the Apple Store today and talked with the manager. He said yes...they are aware of it and they have even investigated it on their own. It's not a bug...Apple just chose to keep the app updates in the queue. He didn't know the exact length of time but he said it will more than likely drop off after a certain period of time. And if there is another update to an app in that list...it will rise to the top.

It would have been nice for this to have this in the published iOS7 documentation. It's not. Reference iPhone/iOS7 documentation, Chapter 23 - App Store, pages 101-103, inclusive.

Nothing about this new App Update behavior.

It's kind of spooky that Applecare still hasn't responded to my trouble ticket, asking for clarification. I even referred Applecare to this forum thread.
