iOS 7 music app does not display artist pictures and has incorrect album art after master reset.

Strange issue here. I did the update from iOS 6 to iOS 7, after I did the update, I noticed my synced music has just a random photo of the artist / group, that seems to be downloaded from the iTunes sites, because these pictures of the artist/group is not my album artwork.

I did a master reset on my device because I wanted to start from a clean slate, and set it up as a new phone. I went through and adjusted all of my settings and synced my music back on via iTunes, now its not showing these pictures any longer, infact, the strangest issue of them all.. is now when I view artists, the album that I synced now has a complete different album artwork picture that is not related to that album.

I am at a loss, my iTunes is extremely organized, I have everything configured to be 100% accurate for track names, artist, album, and album artwork.

Anyone have any input here? It only screwed up after the reset I did. This has to be a bug or something.

NEW SOLUTION, for quicker reference, if you want only album artwork pictures and NOT profile artist pictures, you MUST do a COMPLETE restore of your IOS and MUST set up as a new device. itunes match and everything with signing in has NOTHING to do with the how the pictures show up. Itunes MUST be fully upgraded to the latest install and the firmware on the device should be running 7.0.2.

Elegantdiamond.. I followed your instructions, downloaded the app and it worked perfeftly! I changed all the pictures. Now.. my only question is, for some artists iTunes didnt have a photo and used an album artwork. Can we assign a photo to those? I tried changing and it also changes the album art as well. It looks like it doesnt have a separate photo for those as it does for the ones with the photo (i.e. it uses exactly same file for album cover and thumbnail artist picture?)

Its an easy fix. Go through settings to your music selection. Open it and switch on 'Group By Abum Artist' once this is done all the album and artist art should appear in your artist menu. The only problem now is that any of your individual artists that appear on a various artist 'Album by Artist' selection wont be able to be searched through artists, they will apear under 'Various Artists' column.

Album art will appear next to an artist that does not have a preloaded ITunes picture to appear for that artist.

Makavetis, are you looking to change or add an album artwork like this?User uploaded file

so GHOSTRUNNER, has no album artwork, if you want to add an album artwork so it has a picture to look at BESIDES itunes album artwork thats imbedded in the radio button in music, then you must go to itunes, fine GHOSTRUNNER and right click the song, left click GET INFO, left click the ARTWORK tab and then from there, you may insert a photo of your choice, OR left click GET INFO and type in manually ALL the correct info for that song, ex: User uploaded file

and then left click the OK button on the bottom of that window. Finally, Right click the song again and left click GET ALBUM ARTWORK. if itunes does NOT add in the correct album artwork for that song. then go onto your browser and search the artist and album name and go to images and find a image with pixels of 600 x 600 or greater for the best resolution possible. thats the default size of itunes artist images. hope this helps! (you still see profile artists in my ipad as i have been trying different solutions to this ridiculous ios 7.0.2. but after today, you will not see them in my posts anymore)

To find the correct profile artist picture for a particular artist, there is no easy solution (yet) to finding that picture easily. what i did, was unsync all my music from my ipad, then opened up Ifunbox, and copied all the folders to a "copied folders" folder that i created on the desktop. it takes a little while to copy all those folders over, so give it time. then what you need to do is go through each and every folder individually until you find (lets say) "Adele" profile artist picture, copy that over to the desktop, then go online or use the picture in itunes on the computer to replace the image of adele, if you want to use itunes downloaded album artist picture. simply "get info>artwork and drag it over to the desktop. now edit that picture (assuming you have paint installed already on your computer) and resize the imade to 88x88 PIXELS. save that. now RENAME adeles filename (it will have a bunch of letters and numbers together) and copy those letters and number. now drag adeles image to the recycling bin, and rename the newly created picture of adele to those same letters and numbers. drag that new image over to the folder that had adeles profile artist picture in it. so the folder that adele has is "ea" from where you folder those folders in ifunbox. now drag that folder back to ifunbox and the image will be replaced, AFTER you close the music app in your iphone/ipod/ipad and restart it. Hope this helps!

You guys are geniuses. I just bought a new iPad mini retina and couldn't get all the album art in the artist tab. I restored my iPad and I finally had ALL the album art in the artist tab but it wasn't the same as on my iPhone. All the art was one of the album covers. I logged out of my iTunes account and logged back in with my wife's account and within seconds all the art changed to artist profile pics, at least all the profile pics that were available. My iPad now matches my iPhone. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I have a the same problem (I think), where I get pictures of artists that are not of my choosing.

One bad example is this:

I have an album by heavy metal band "Dio" - fronted by Ronnie James Dio.

The album artwork is there OK, but the Artist picture is of "Dio" the rap artist - this is very annoying.

Why can't I edit this Artist picture?

If Apple want to scrape pictures from their database to make our lives "easier", they should at least give us the option to override or edit the picture, especially when their are more than one artist with the same name.

Are there any ways around this?

Cheers.

sign in an apple id that is registered in a country

with iTunes Radio such as US, if you don't have one, create or change your apple id's country to US. Open your iTunes and check if all your audio files has an Album Artist Info in each file if not, right click a file on iTunes and add the Album artists of the song and do it in all of your tracks.

after that, sync it with your device to save changes and then go to settings and toggle "group by album artist" and then open the music app and try using iTunes Radio, just click anything and then let the music app do the work.

not all artists is going to have a photo, but it's not iTunes or Apple's problem, it's the artist problem because they didn't add a photo in their artist page on iTunes so just wait for them to add one or do the suggetion at the top using iFunbox (but it's going to be a hardwork) to change the artist photo.

I've been trying to figure this one out for a little while. After realizing that there are several reasons why it doesn't work (a lot of these solutions here work, but not for everyone), this is the one that worked for me.

Apple have tried to be too smart and have started to add their own artwork of the artist, depending on the name that's saved. But in some of my albums, a lot of the tracks had the album artwork when I played them, but some of them; within the same album, didn't show. I figured that the ones that didn't show the artwork, were the ones that weren't numbered within the album. Once I'd plugged my iPhone (5) into my laptop, I then right clicked the individual tracks, clicked "Get Info" and changed the the track numbers to the track numbers listed in the album.

Once everything was in order and numbered, I then clicked "sync" and finally... All the artwork appeared.

Looks like iTunes wants to be just as organized.
