More iTunes 11.1 fun: it hangs if I get info, and then try to go to Next or Previous track.

Pretty much as per the title: I can Get Info (Command-I) for an iTunes track just fine, and change information if I so please. If I press "OK", no problem - but if I click "Next" or "Previous", iTunes just hangs. And hangs. And hangs. So far I've "only" waited 30 minutes at most before force quitting.

It's typical hanging behavior: the current song will finish playing, but nothing else will play. Spinning beach ball and all that; 90%+ CPU usage, and in the Activity Monitor it turns red because it's not responding.

My software's all as up to date as possible; the iMac is late 2009 "vintage", but changing tag information shouldn't do that much damage!

Is this just me?

Update did not fix mine. But my issue seems to be a bit different. It happens if I leave iTunes open for an unknow length of time, it just hangs. For example, if I leave iTunes open overnight and check it the next day, it's hung up.

Try this, it worked for me: In the Applications folder --Left click iTunes and select "Get Info" and put a check in the checkbox for "Prevent Nap Mode" and close the Get info Box for iTunes and now iTunes is back to normal speed and won't hang on quit.

I presume you are referring to iTunes running under Mavericks? I am running it under Mountain Lion and have not yet installed Mavericks as I wait for all the early adopters to flesh out the bugs and incompatibilities.

Well I was talking about using it on Lion not mountain, but I upgraded to Mavericks fine.

I use a lot of audio apps with various external sound cards and peripherals, and all though I normally wait, I upgraded straight away as I figured it would have many major changes other than UI.

I haven't come across any issues effecting what I do. The only thing I have is the new transfer graphic stuck on the launch icon in the dock for some reason. Once an App needs an update I hope it will go after the update.

I thought you were referring to Mavericks because I don't see any check box that says "Prevent Nap Mode" in the Get Info window. You are referring to "right" clicking the app icon and the app's Get Info correct?

Mavericks broke Gmail support in Apple Mail and I use Parallels 8 to run Windows virtually for certain tasks. I would have to upgrade to Parallels 9 for Mavericks support. Suddenly the "Free" OS update starts costing me money that I don't want to spend right now.
