lightning SD card reader issue with iOS7

Hello,

I have updated yesterday to iOS7 and been impressed to the smooth finish and the handling. Way better then previous versions.

Only downside are the accessories.

I have had no issues with my lighning SD card reader on previous iOS Versions but today I tried to connect it and it said that it is not supported by iPad.

It is an original lightning adapter bought at an Apple shop in Singapore and I cannot imagine that it is not supported by Apple anymore.

I have already rebooted the system a few times and got it working once for a short while until it broke down again with the same error message. I tried as well different SD cards as I thought is might have been an issue with the SD card.

Can anyone help me to fix that issue. Did I miss any setting or does anyone had the same issue?

Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Hi Amit,

After some correspondence with my supplier they offered me a refund or I could wait to see if Apple issued a system fix. I decided to cut my losses and took the refund asking them how they wanted me to return the reader.

Surprisingly they told me I could keep it and not to bother to return it.

I then went in to an Apple store and bought one over the counter with an assurance from the staff that I could return it for a full refund if it didn't work.

I Plugged it in at home and it worked fine.

Bottom line is there are some very, very convincing counterfeit items out there that even the importers don't know about. Everything about the first reader was identical to the one I purchased in the Apple store, other then the fake one didn't work.

If you want one that works buy it directly from Apple not from someone claiming to be an approved Apple distributor and even if it's a couple of quid cheaper it's probably a wrong un!

Thanks for that advice Steve.
I have just bought a 'genuine' apple reader from eBay - and it doesn't work.
I guess I should have known better. Oh well - off to Apple now to get the real deal 😢

For what it is worth, there is literally no such thing as an Apple Authorized reseller on eBay. Apple does not list any such sellers on their web site, and they list ALL authorized resellers on their web site.

My SD reader also does not work. I am fairly certain that it is an original apple device but I may have been screwed over. Apple does make it impossible to tell original from fakes

Luckly I had given up on the Ipad for photo storage/editing since it is useless even with photo editing software.....NO WAY to get the finished pictures off the Ipad and printed.Best I could come up with is to email to myself, go to internet cafe and store then on the SD card again and then go to photo printing shop.

Yep, no one could possibly fake a number on anything! I mean, they never do it with cars or banknotes, do they?

I don't like the fact that someone gets swindled by fakers - and I positively hate the fact that it happened to me once - but the lesson is to buy from a genuine Apple outlet. Not completely foolproof, but a lot safer.

I had a similar problem today with my lightning SD reader. After trying several things, my brother told me to double-check the folder structure. In my case, I use a Nikon camera, so the folder name has to be the same as the default Nikon name (DCIM). When I used a folder with this name and placed all pics in it, my iPad mini recognized the adapter immediately and the import tab was there. I was able to import all photos on the card successfully.

Don't know if this will be helpful for anyone, but I thought I would share the info just in case.
