Vibrate not working at all with iOS7

I updated to iOS7 the day it came out and thought all was going fine but only now, I'm realizing that the vibrate feature hasn't worked once since.

Prevoiusly, I just thought that it doesn't vibrate when my phone is plugged in (when I'd receive text messages) but it just dawned on me that it hasn't vibrated at all since. When I switch from Normal mode to Silent mode, no vibration. When I go to settings and try out the different Vibrate modes, I feel nothing. My phone doesn't vibrate when I plug it into my laptop as well. I'm wondering something happened between when I upgraded to iOS7?

Is there any way to troubleshoot this problem?

I just reset my iPhone today (all content and settings) and restored it to a recent backup but still the same issue.

Do you think I should just take it to an Apple Specialist at the Apple Store?

p.s. the iPhone is less than a year old

Updating did not fix my issue on my 4s. Took to store and they said they could wipe phone clean and then do a reinstall of IOS 7. Said I would lose my text messages, but everything else would come back. Said I could not do an install from iCloud as this might put the software problem back on the phone. Gave me an 80% likeihood this would work. I didn't go ahead with the plan. I'm debating selling my 4s and upgrading to the new phone.

Hi everyone,

Same for me : i got my new iphone 5S last wednesday and just figure this morning it was never vibrating ...

I tried a hard reset but still the same even before trying to restore a backup.

I checked every settings (sounds and not disturb) but everything is rightly setup.

I have no choice than going back to the Apple Store ..

A shame for a smartphone to this price

RESOLVED!

Everything worked fine before my iOS 7 upgrade but my iPhone 5 simply would not vibrate for incomming calls. All the other features seem to vibrate as expected.

I thought I had checked "all" the settings and it didn't matter what the Sound, Vibrate, and Do Not Disturb settings were. I say I thought I had checked all the settings because I just found one I had not noticed before, and that solved my problem:

Go to Settings | Sounds | Ringtone (notice the "SOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS" just above "Ringtone")

Now pull the Ringtone screen down so you can see the very top of the screen and note the top section labelled "Vibration". Mine was set to "None". Pick a vibration and you're home free!

=>I never noticed that I had a choice of vibrations before...perhaps that's new iOS 7 feature set to "none" by default...I don't know. I've had an iPhone for 3 years now and I never noticed that setting before.

After going through all the steps listed on this forum, and after spending time with the apple support on line (waiting time for both sessions together totalled 1.5 hours, nevermind the discussion time), but we finally came up with a hardware problem. I went to my verizon carrier, reported, told them not to waste their time to "look at it" after showing them my discussion sheets, and they ordered an express replacement for my phone. Got it via FedEx last night, did the whole install thing (iOS 7 included) and .... IT VIBRATES! You can discuss for "free" if you haven't paid for the support (what a rip off), by clicking on the tab that says you should be an exception and a "I just installed iOS 7" pops up.🙂

I have the same issue, and trust me i know my settings and nothing is wrong with them. the solution about slapping the fone does work for a few vibrations but is not a fix and i am not ready to accept that there is any hardware issue here. my fone worked fine on the previous iOS.

seems like Apple in an attempt to make their OS look as catchy as windows or andriod, have missed some basic QA checks!!

this is really frustrating and disappointing that Apple has not yet owned this issue and has not come up with a solution.

to be honest, iOS7 (somewhat copying Andriod OS) has been a complete faliure as it does not provide a basic feature which a 10 Euro fone would 😟

i have been browsing thru these posts for weeks now and there wasnt a single response from the apple support.

I called my mobile operator and they put me through to Apple support. They did a hard reset and setup the phone as a brand new phone and the vibrator still didn't work. They reckon I need to go to Apple store and pay £126 for a replacement phone that will come with 90 day warranty.

I still think its an OS bug because it was working right up until the OS update to iOS 7 and all that been proved with the conversation with Apple support that the iOS7 doesn't like my phones vibrator. They haven't actually proved the vibrator has malfunctioned. the tech support guy reckons that some times an OS upgrade brings up underlying hardward faults. I dont believe that, its like filling a diesel car with petrol and saying the car doesn't work because the original engine had a fault. Either the OS has a bug in which it cannot communicate with the device or its caused it to malfunction by over excerting it.

I have google iphone 4 vibrator parts and found a place selling the part for £5 now being appl even if they charged £30 I could understand and maybe willing to pay for part to be fixed.

Amasing how I cant official downgrade to iOS6 until recently to prove that it was and still is working.
