So I am not sure what changed, but I had reserved myself to just switching off LTE when needing to use the microcell... but yesterday I noticed that I came into the house and before I could switch off the LTE on my 5s, it was registered and Showing M-Cell. I confirmed that the phone was still in LTE mode, and it was.

So my only conlusion is that de-registering and re-enrolling the Microcell was the ultimate fix. others have reported this, but it didnt work for me on the day I did it. I can only assume that AT&T pushed the firmware later that evening, or the Microcell made power adjustments based on the internal site survey and it took some time to make the adjustments.

Well chrboyd, I do hope that sticks for you.

I have noticed that even my phone, which does not reliably connect unless LTE is turned off, will in fact sometimes connect to the microcell all by itself. The problem seems to be related to how strong the LTE signal is vs the microcell. Apparently the ATT 3G signal was poorer than the LTE signal. The stronger LTE signal must somehow look better than the microcell signal from time to time. Once my phone connects, it is usually good for the day. I seem to lose the connection overnight.

It is unfortunate that none of the companies care to offer any help. AT&T, Apple or Cisco.

We have the same problem on an iPhone 4 that was just upgraded to iOS 7.1.

Our microcell is the only signal in our house since we live in a canyon with no tower signals, so it's not an issue of the tower competing with the microcell.

Another iPhone 4 in the house has been running iOS 7 for a while and visual voicemail works OK, but the second phone that was just upgraded can't play a visual voicemail message until after the phone has been back in civilization and connected to towers again.

I've tried resetting network settings and rebooting the microcell (but not registering it yet).

Next step is to try calling AT&T (when I feel like banging my head against a wall).

Here's what I recommend:

Delete all the phones on the microcell from the AT&T site and then physically restart the microcell. Once it reboots and comes in, do a reactivation through the ATT site. Once reactivated, add the phones back.

I've done this on one other unit than mine and it worked. Not sure which of those things do it, but the combo seems to work. It takes while but you don't waste time on the phone with someone who doesn't know any better.

Picking this up again as I have done everything and it just does not work. I have deactivated/reactivated the microcell, I have updated the router, and I have reset network settings and the microcell does not get picked up. I will say that when I disable LTE I do pick up the M-cell, but call quality is terrible...similar to when LTE is enabled. When in LTE mode - 1/2 bars, with LTE disabled and M-Cell on - 5 bars. What gives? This was working beautifully for the last several months. I did the update to the new 7.1.2 last week and now its horrible! Does anyone have any suggestions? Something is not jiving and I have no idea. Please help!
