My iPhone 4S after the iOS7 update won't charge either, not even on the computer. The battery just went straight to 1%. It's just stuck on low battery. I called Apple and they told me it was more likely a software issue than battery issue. Completely bummed. I'm hoping they can fix it... and I don't have to replace it. My warranty already expired. I've tried to restore it, hard reset it, and turn on/off and nothing worked. Hopefully they find a solution to this problem.

Same problem:

I installed IOS7 on my iPhone 4S as soon as it was available.

It first worked ok for a couple of days.

Then yesterday after loading battery overnight, the battery was only at 48%, a few minutes later it went to zero.

When connected to a wall charger it was showing 100% battery load, but disconecting it was shutting down for low battery.

I tried to restore in DFU mode but I got the error 2001 after waiting a few second for the iphone to answer, which was not happening due to low battery.

I replaced the battery, with one that was at 50%. Then I could restore it, and it seemed to work normally.

Then after a few hours on without use, it appears to have switched off for low battery again.

I tried to load the batterry over night, but it was just keeping in a continuous rebooting loop, and not charging.

Trying to restore from iMac or Macbook gives 2001 error.

So it was not the battery, it is just not charging the battery on any computer or wall charger.

It's dead.

What can I do, please help me !!!!

2001 Error? I was just at the Apple store yesterday and that was the same exact issue my 4S ran across. Error 2001 is a hardware issue they told me - an issue with the charging dock or at least part that involves charging (don't know what they called it) For iPhone 4S they told me that part cannot be replace, for iPhone 5 it can be. The only options they gave me is to replace my phone. (If you have Apple+ they will replace it for free) In my case, my warranty was out (1 year, 3 months) and I did not purchase Apple+ so the options were:

1. Buy replacement 4S - 200 I believe, 90 day warranty

2. Buy new phone - 5S or 5C & try to trade in old 4S

3. They actually told me next cheapest option beside replacement phone (200) was to buy prepaid phone till my contract ends.

Still upset about the options they gave me... I still feel like its the iOS7 that burnt out my charger dock thing, but they won't budge.

You can try to make an Apple appointment or call them, but I feel like they might just tell you the same thing.

I also overheard them talking to someone who had a greyed out wifi and told them it was hardware issue too! They said that they make iPhones in batches and sometimes they just get a "bad" batch where their hardware just all happen to have problems at the same time. I don't think this explanation makes me feel any better. All I can say is "great timing" Breaking our phones RIGHT after we update. Too much of a coincidence.

Error 2001, iPhone 4S not charging.

The phone had never been open before. Then I saw on forums that it could be the battery, so I tried a new battery. It works a few hours but was not charging. So I put back the original battery and I went to the local official Apple shop where I bought it.

Bad news:

It's a hardware problem. Charging module is overheating with IOS7 and it got damaged.

Fortunately the 23 months old 4S is still under 2 years guarantee. I need to wait 3 weeks to get a final diagnostic as they are overloaded with many claims currently, I'm not supprised...

I took back a good old Nokia meanwhile...

Issue: the charging module of iPhone 4S cannot be replace, while for iPhone 5 it can be.

So they will suggest a standard exchange.

Let's see.

I'll keep you informed.

I have an iphone 5, and it just completely stopped charging from either the wall jack or the computer (I have the apple issued charger, so that's not the problem). I also recently download ios7. Any ideas on home fixes?

Also, I made an appointment at the genius bar, but there weren't any open ones for a few days. If I just walk in, will they help me?

I'm abroad, so this is extremely frustrating..
