5c screen glass seems loose?

I got the green 5c on launch day (UK) , however its only today i noticed that the glass on my screen seems slightly loose on the right hand side?

It doesn't seem to have affected the functionality of the phone, but if i press the right hand of the screen i can feel it moving up/down and it sort of clicks. I was debating taking it back to the apple store on my day off to ask them and maybe get a replacement, because its kind of annoying, plus I did pay nearly £470 for it..

I know the 5c is more cheaply made but I wasn't expecting to have this sort of problem 3 days into owning the device?

Apple will replace it but since this is a design flaw, your replacement will eventually heat up enough to pop the screen too. Apple has not used plastic casing since the iPhone 1 or some refer to it as the 2G but remember it had a chrome border covering the edges of the screen.

Like the iMac designs the Big A likes to use magnets to hold glass in place. The iPhone probably has this same concept. It is too bad they've come up with the most faulty design so far and Apple has yet to publicly acknowledge it. Steve Jobs at least discussed antennae gate. Glass gate has been around with the 4,4s,5,5s, but seems to affect more 5c models than all those other previous ones combined.

I've accepted it and can get my glass to stop. I have to remove from my black rubber iPhone case that let's the heat out.

I won't be taking my back again unless the screen totally falls out. It is a shame Apple decided to go cheap. I would have had a 5s if Apple had it in stock the day I purchased this one.

My glass was popping minutes ago. It's ok now. Just be gentle and let it breath. Goodnight iPhone 5c until we pop again.

Apple replaced my first iPhone 5c, free of charge, outside of its 14 days returns period. So I'm on my second iPhone 5c now. I've had it for 10 days and it's absolutely fine. The screen isn't moving at all, and it feels nice and solid.

So, maybe it isn't a design fault? Maybe it's a manufacturing fault that affects quite a lot of units, but not all of them?

That said, if the screen on my second iPhone 5c starts to move and click, within the next year, I will be returning it and asking for a full refund.

When I went to the Genius Bar on the weekend the 'genius' was unable to replicate the popping of the screen, but I explained to him that the problem was much more prominent when the phone is warm and I also showed him a video of the screen clicking away like crazy which I recorded with my iPad. He still didn't seem overly convinced that it was a problem which was annoying, but he kindly replaced the phone anyway, although he did say that if the second phone starts doing the same thing 'it is part of the spec' and they will therefore not replace it again for the same reason. Luckily, whilst it has only been 2 days, the replacement 5c feels solid as a rock and has no creaks. I am hoping that it was just a bad batch and not a design fault. Having said that, if it does start popping again I will be taking it back and demanding a full refund regardless of what the genius says!

The one year warranty provided by apple covers defects in materials and workmanship. If there is a valid claim, the warranty states that apple will repair, replace or refund the product BUT that is 'at its own discretion' therefore the warranty itself doesn't actually give you any rights as a consumer. The other problem you have is that the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, therefore you might have a hard time convincing apple that it's a design or manufactural fault especially if you have had the phone for 2 months. Having said that, it is covered by the warranty so I would take it back again and ask nicely that they exercise their discretion to provide you with a refund.

As for your actual rights, UK law provides that whenever goods are sold there is an implied term that the goods will be of a satisfactory quality and fit for purpose (section 14 Sale of Goods Act 1979). If the phone is not of a satisfactory quality or fit for purpose this is a breach of contract which legally entitles you to a refund.

I will add myself to the list of Iphone 5C's that have the clicking noise. I have a white 32gb 5C and I am on my 3rd one for the clicking noise on the screen. Unfortunately everytime I have had it replaced it seems to be getting worse(kind of wish I would of kept the original). The first time I had it replaced the tech was clear that this has been an issue since the iphone 5, has to do with tolerances on the phone, and that there is no promise that the next one will not do it. I am going to try and live it with for now, but I am disappointed in poor craftsmanship of this generation of apple products. This will most likely be my last Iphone, unfortunately I have 18months before my contract is up!!!

People

check the SIM card tray.

My 5c was with this same problem. I talked with the folks at Apple, take me to recommend a technical assistance. But I realized that if I pull out the tray, the glass was no longer the sound of "click" when put back the tray, the noise returned.

So this is a possible solution. the SIM card tray, keeping it as far away from the glass. It is much smaller than 1 mm thing. In my case I believe it is because of the heat. Almost 35 º C every day of the summer. But there may be other causes and other solutions, if the sound is in direction of volume buttons

I hope this help and sorry my bad english

I originally got a blue iphone 5c, had a clicking from the bottom left of screen when any pressure applied to it. Got it replaced by carphone warehouse and got another blue one which started clicking on the right side after 3 days! Went in and got it replaced again with a green one in the hope that a change of colour might help... Its a long shot but you never know

Hey guys,

Look I'm really worried. I'm having this loose / clicking screen problem, it's subtle, but I do notice it a lot. I'm really not comfortable with this since I paid U$D549 for the iPhone 5C 16GB white version!

Since I'm in Argentina, and these phones are not yet sold here, there's nothing I can do! I have the US

Does anyone know a way to get international assistance? Please! I'm really worried.

Thanks a lot!
