movie rental problems Apple TV

Apple TV upgraded with iOS7 (latest update) but movie rentals do not show up in Main Menu "Movies" as they did previously. Once played or stopped when playing they disappear. When you try to rent again the dialogue says it was previously rented, go to Setting, General, Downloads to retrieve. There is no Downloads.

Also can not pause movie rentals but can pause TV Shows and all previews.

Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I have signed out of Itunes disconnected my apple for 30 minutes and still can not re-rent a movie that I rented but was denied access to because I paused or switched channels for a few minutes. I am also getting the same directions - go to settings and then go to download but there is no "download" under the settings pulldown - really quite frustrating and expensive to boot

The solution I posted worked for me. It may not work for you.

Some of you may or may not need to do a full reset, but for me it was the final step that allowed me to regain access to my rented film.

I was able to finish watching my rental, and I've not had another problem since.

Ultimately this is Apple's problem, and everyone should be letting them know that there is an issue that needs to be resolved

World War Z actually quit on me while I was watching it, about 20 minutes in, and subsequently was not to be found. Apple support refunded the purchase (albeit with the rather irritating insinuation that I had simply failed to watch the movie before it expired, even though I reported the problem with within a half hour of renting).

I was not able to resolve the problem.

I rented WWZ again, and finished watching it. When I left the movie at the credits, it was gone again: no way to resume the rental or re-watch.

I’ve rented dozens of movies via Apple TV with no difficulty. This incident occurred soon after installing the recent Apple TV software update.

It is a bug, lots of us are having trouble with rented movies not playing. Mine plain don't show up anywhere. Major Apple bug they need to acknowlege and fix ASAP. I've got two movies rented several days ago, still won't show up. It never took more than a few minutes for a movie to be available for viewing before. Very messed up...

If you are reading this message either in the online community or in an email notification you have received, please be aware it is a temporary post.

The support community is currently undergoing some minor problems which can occasionally result in newer posts being rendered invisible. One method of working around this issue and revealing the hidden posts is to add a further post of one’s own.

However because it’s not possible to see what one is replying to, it’s not possible to make a valid post in terms of the question(s) being asked, but once it has been posted and the invisible posts become visible again, one can then edit the post accordingly.

If you are seeing this in an email notification, unfortunately you won’t be notified of any subsequent edit and as such should return to the message in the online community to see any changes made to it.

On the other hand, if I have nothing worthwhile to say, it might remain as it is.

Darn, ran out of time and had to write this all over again.

Do you have anything that suggests this is a bug. I haven't seen anything and you haven't suggested anything to support your point of view. On the other hand, the reports that I'm seeing suggest it isn't and that it is an account or server based issue.

Aside from the numerous posters who report account setting changes have resolved the issue, some of which have been posted in the very threads you have posted your bug statement in, I've seen reports of users with multiple accounts on the same Apple TV where the problem only occurs on one account. Then there is the timing to consider, the latest software was released a few weeks back now and these reports only started a few days ago, this suggests to me at least, that it's likely to be something introduced server side in the last few days rather than an issue with the software itself.

The problem with an 'it's a bug' post is that a software bug can only be fixed with an update and that will encourage users to just stop trying to resolve a problem. This doesn't help them, it doesn't help me since solutions stop getting posted and I can't collate them, which then doesn't help others.

If you must post 'it's a bug' all over the place, at least make it known that this is your opinion and add anything you might have to support it. I have my own opinions, which I'm slowly adding to the posts I make, but I do make it clear they are opinions and leave the reader to judge them for themselves.
